This study highlights the necessity of thermal targets for various live-fire training exercises, based on the detection and observation of targets using key surveillance equipment deployed in national defense. The research analyzes improvement requirements for the utilization of thermal targets in training and investigates key military applications of thermal identification, as well as the current level of related technologies. Based on these findings, expert opinions were gathered from specialists in combat development, training, and the defense industry. Using this foundation, the study proposes the required technical performance standards for thermal-based training targets applicable to major weapon systems that utilize surveillance equipment for live-fire training and thermal tracking.

본 연구는 국방에 전력화된 주요 감시장비를 활용한 표적의 감지와 관측을 기반으로 각종 사격훈련에 활용이 요구되는 열상 표적지의 필요성에 대해 문제를 제기하였다. 이에 연구에서는 사격훈련용 열상 표적지의 활용을 위한 개선요구를 분석하였고, 현재 국방에서 열상 식별과 관련된 주요 적용사례, 관련 기술 수준을 조사하였다. 이를 기초 로 전투 발전 및 교육 훈련 전문가, 기술업체 관계자 등 해당 분야 전문가 의견 수렴 통해 감시장비를 활용한 사격 훈련과 열상을 추적하여 사격하는 주요 무기체계에 적용이 가능한 열상 기반의 사격훈련용 표적지 활용을 위한 기술 관점의 요구성능(안)을 제시하였다.
