The study aimed to examine the effects of character education activities utilizing picture books on young children’s caring thinking and pro-social behaviors. The subjects were young children who were enrolled in child care centers located in I Metropolitan City, comprising an experimental group of 18 children and a comparison group of 17 children. The experimental group participated in character education activities using picture books, while the comparison group engaged in general activities based on the 2019 Revised Nuri-Curriculum. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to measure their caring thinking and pro-social behaviors in both groups, and the data were analyzed using ANCOVA with SPSS 28.0. The findings revealed that character education activities using picture books positively influenced the enhancement of young children’s cating thinking and pro-social behaviors. These results suggest that picture books would serve as an effective teaching and learning methods for character education in early childhood educational settings.

본 연구의 목적은 그림책 활용 인성교육활동이 유아의 배려적사고와 친사회적행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 I광역시에 소재한 어린이집에 재원 중인 유아로 실험집단 18명, 비교집단 17명이었다. 실험집단 유아에게는 그림책을 활용한 인성교육활동을 실시했으며, 비교집단 유아에게는 2019 개정누리과정에 의한 일반적인 활동을 실시했다. 실험집단과 비교집단 유아를 대상으로 사전검사와 사후검사를 통해 배려적사고와 친사회적행동 수 준을 측정했으며, SPSS 28.0을 사용하여 공변량분석을 실시했다. 연구결과를 통해 그림책 활용 인성교육활동이 유아 의 배려적사고와 친사회적행동의 증진에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구결과는 유아교육현장에서 그 림책이 인성교육의 효과적인 교수학습 매체가 될 수 있음을 시사한다.
