The purpose of this study is to find out whether peer competence has a mediating effect on the influence of children's playfulness and leadership. The participants were 305 children aged 3 to 5 years enrolled in early childhood education institutions in A City. The measurement of this study are adapted, modified, supplemented by 'Children's Playfulness Scale'of Barnett(1991) based on Lieberman(1965), 'Peer Competence Scale' by Park Ju-hee and Rhee Un-hai(2001), 'Children's Leadership Scale for Teachers' by Lee Chae-ho and Choe In-soo(2008). The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 26 and AMOS 26. The study yielded the following results. First, children's playfulness and peer competence had a direct positive effect on leadership. Second, the simple mediating effect of peer competence in the relationship between playfulness and leadership was found to be significant. As a result, for fostering children's leadership development, it is essential not only to enhance playfulness but also to consider the mediating role of peer competence. This study provides fundamental insights for promoting leadership in early childhood education institutions or for developing the program of promoting leadership.

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 놀이성이 리더십에 미치는 영향에서 또래유능성의 매개효과에 대해 알 아보고자 한 것이다. 연구대상은 A시에 위치한 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 만3〜5세 유아 305명이 며, 연구도구로는 Lieberman(1965)의 이론에 기초하여 Barnett(1991)이 개발한 유아 놀이성 척도를 수정한 도구와 박주희와 이은해(2001)가 개발한 유아 또래유능성 검사도구, 이채호와 최인수(2008) 가 개발한 교사용 유아 리더십 검사도구를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 IBM SPSS 27과 AMOS 27 프 로그램을 사용하여 분석하였고，다음과 같은 연구결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 유아 놀이성，또래유능 성은 리더십에 직접적으로 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째，유아 놀이성과 리더십 간 의 관계에서 또래유능성의 단순매개효과가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 유아의 리더십을 발달시키기 위해서는 놀이성을 증진시키는 동시에，또래유능성의 매개 경로를 고려해야 함을 시사 한다. 이러한 연구결과는 유아의 리더십 증진을 위한 유아교육 현장이나 리더십 증진 프로그램 개 발에 기초적인 자료로 활용 될 것이다.
