This paper seeks to expand upon previous research suggesting that the Naksujeong Bell was created during the Later Baekje period. Additionally, it explores the historical and cultural significance of both the Naksujeong and Enseiji Bells, their original locations, and the contexts surrounding their creation. It further investigates the circumstances and motivations behind their eventual removal from their original sites. The study reveals that the Naksujeong and Enseiji Bells, crafted in the early 10th century in Jeonju — the capital of Later Baekje — symbolize Gyeon Hwon's evolving identity, transitioning from the ‘Completer of Unification’ to the ‘Successor of Silla.’ Both bells ultimately experienced the fate of displacement from Jeonju. The Enseiji Bell was the first to be removed during the Japanese invasion of 1597 (Cyclical Year Jeongyu). Mori Takamasa, who participated in a military council in Jeonju, plundered the bell. However, in 1600, during a civil war, the bell was seized by Kuroda Yoshitaka, the daimyo of Fukuoka, and eventually installed at Enseiji Temple, established by Kuroda's retainer, Kuriyama Toshiyasu. In contrast, the Naksujeong Bell remained in Jeonju for a longer period. During the Japanese colonial era, Park Yeong-geun, a pro-Japanese collaborator and influential local figure, presented the bell to Governor-General Saito. Saito later donated it to Suijō-in Temple in Fukuoka. Despite a time gap of over 330 years, the two bells were serendipitously reunited in Fukuoka, Japan. Among the two bells, only the Naksujeong Bell returned to Jeonju in 1999 after a long and eventful journey.
