This paper aims to introduce the overview of the Humanities and Social Research Institute Support Project research project, "Collection and Arrangement of Basic Data for DB Construction of the State Examination Yearbook of the Joseon Dynasty," which is being conducted by the Jae Research Institute at Jeonbuk National University with support from the National Research Foundation of Korea, and to examine its DB construction methods. The State Examination Yearbook DB construction project aims to collect all information related to the Joseon Dynasty's civil and military examinations, minor examinations (for Saengwon and Jinsa), miscellaneous examinations, and special re-examinations (Jungsi), organize them by examination and subject, and construct a yearbook-type database. Regarding the construction methodology, chronological articles about State examinations and Bangmok-format information were built individually and classified into a total of 1,945 State examinations conducted during the Joseon Dynasty. The significance of this DB construction lies in its potential beyond simple digitization, by verifying errors in existing materials, studying quasi-examination systems, and providing possibilities for research expansion into various fields.

이 논문은 전북대학교 이재연구소에서 한국연구재단의 지원을 받아 진행 중인 인문사회연구소지원사업 <조선시대 과거 연보(科擧年譜) DB 구축을 위한 기초 자료의 수집 및 정리> 연구사업을 소개하고, 수행방법과 그 의의를 살펴보기 위해 작성되었다. 과거연보 DB 구축 연구사업은 조선시대의 문·무과, 소과(생원진사과), 잡과, 중시(重試)에 관련된 모든 정보를 수집하고, 이를 시험·주제별로 정리하고 이를 연보형태의 DB를 구축해 주자는 데 그 목적이 있다. 즉, 과거에 관한 모든 자료를 기본적 사실관계 확립부터 시작하여 흩어져 있는 관련 자료를 체계적으로 정리하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 과거연보 DB 구축은 『조선왕조실록』을 중심으로 하는 1단계와 『승정원일기』 자료 수집을 통한 2단계로 나누어 진행되며, 과거 시행 과정에서 생산된 고문서, 시권(과문선집류), 사찬사서, 일기류, 개인문집 등을 정리한다. DB구축 방법은 과거 관련 연대기 기사와 방목 형식의 정보를 개별적으로 구축하되 과거UCI를 통해 상호 연결성을 확보하였다. ‘저인망식’ 자료 수집, 정리규칙, 개별 과거 기사의 분류 및 주제어 체계를 마련하여 조선시대 실시된 1,945회의 과거연보로 체계화하였다. 이러한 DB 구축은 단순한 디지털화를 넘어 기존 자료의 오류 검증, 준과거 제도 연구, 교육사·사회사·정치사·문화사·지역사 등 다양한 분야로의 연구 확장 가능성을 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
