The purpose of this paper is to study the trends of literary circles in the mid-Joseon Dynasty. This was an era in which various changes were sought in literary style in parallel with social changes after the Japanese invasions of Korea. As the popularity and limitations of Jinhan gomun, which had been introduced in earnest by Heo Gyun, were revealed, a new perception was being formed about the mild Tang and Song gomun. As a research method, we analyzed the perceptions of Kim Seok-ju, a representative writer at the time, and a group of people who led the literary style and sought a new theory of writing together with him. In order to lead the hegemony of heraldry in any era, the answer was found in torture. The tendency to praise the Jinhan Dynasty is based on its simplicity and novel formulas, which are concise and concise. However, this resulted in the negative effect of being uncomfortable and relying only on formulas. Accordingly, in pursuit of the spirit of the Tang and Song Dynasties, we sought to supplement sentences with a literary style that prioritizes conveying the meaning well. In this theory of sentences, the dialectical relationship between these gropings and the two literary styles served as an opportunity to develop contemporary literary theory.

이 논문의 목적은 조선중기 문단의 경향을 연구하는 데 있다. 이 시대는 임진왜란 이후 사회 변화와 병행하여 문풍에서도 다양한 변화가 모색 되던 시대였다. 허균으로부터 본격적으로 소개되던 진한고문의 유행과 그 한계가 드러남과 동시에 순연한 당송고문에 대한 새로운 인식이 형성 되고 있었다. 연구 방법으로 당시 대표적인 문인 김석주와 그와 함께 문 풍을 주도하며 새로운 문장론을 모색했던 인물군의 인식을 분석하였다. 어느 시대에나 문장의 패권을 주도하기 위해 고문에서 해답을 찾았다. 진한고문을 추숭했던 경향은 간결하고 함축된 진한시대의 고문에서 그 간결함과 참신한 수식을 장점으로 한다. 그러나 이는 껄끄럽고 수식만을 일삼는 폐단을 낳았다. 이에 당송고문의 정신을 추구하며 문장은 뜻을 잘 전달하는 것을 으뜸으로 삼는 문풍으로 보완하고자 하였다. 문장론에 서 이러한 모색과 두 문풍 사이에 변증법적인 관계는 당대 문학론을 발전 시키는 계기가 되었다.
