This study analyzed the relationship between parenting attitudes as perceived by multicultural elementary students and their national identity, using Latent Growth Curve Modeling (LGCM). The main objective was to examine how parenting attitudes categorized into neglect and monitoring affect changes in national identity over time. The study utilized data from the 2nd Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) by the Korea Youth Policy Institute, which consists of multicultural adolescents who were elementary students in 2019, reflecting the increasing number of children born abroad. For the research, a Linear Growth Model and Latent Growth Model were applied using Latent Growth Curve modeling, along with descriptive statistics and a correlation analysis of the key variables. The analysis revealed that, when comparing neglectful and monitoring parenting attitudes with national identity, the Linear Growth Model was applicable, confirming that these variables change over time. Additionally, the Multivariate Latent Growth Model showed that while neglectful parenting had no significant relationship with national identity, monitoring parenting had a positive effect on both the initial levels of national identity and its rate of change. These findings suggest that promoting positive parenting, especially monitoring, can help foster a healthy national identity in children from multicultural families. Furthermore, the study highlights the value of early parental intervention in shaping national identity, distinguishing itself from studies that primarily used cross-sectional analysis.

본 연구는 잠재성장모형을 기반으로 다문화 초등학생이 지각하는 부모양육태도와 국가정체성 간의 관계를 심층적으로 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 목적은 부모양육태도를 방임과 감독의 두 가지 유형으로 구분하고, 국가정체성이 시간에 따라 어떻게 변화하는 지를 살펴보며, 이러한 변화 과정에서 부모양육태도가 국가정체성에 미치는 영향을 규 명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구에서 실시한 다문화 청소년 패널조사 2기(MAPS: Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study) 자료를 활용하였다. 2기는 외국출생자들의 수가 증가하는 것을 반영해 기존 패널 연구에서 신규로 구축된 집단으로 2019년 기준 초등학 교 4학년이었던 다문화 청소년 집단이다. 연구 방법으로는 주요 변인 간의 기술통계, 상관분석과 함께 잠재성장곡선 모델을 활용하여 선형성장모형 및 다변량 잠재성장모형 분 석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 부모양육태도의 방임과 감독, 그리고 국가정체성을 무성장 모형과 비교했 을 때 선형성장모형이 적용 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 이는 시간의 흐름에 따라 이들 변인이 변화함을 나타낸다. 또한 다변량 잠재성장모형을 통해 부모양육태도의 방임은 국가정체성과 유의한 경로를 보이지 않았으나, 부모양육태도의 감독은 초기 값 및 변화 율이 모두 국가정체성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 다문화가정의 자녀들이 건강한 국가정체성을 형성할 수 있도록 돕는 방향으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 본 연구는 주로 횡단적 분석에 의존했던 연구들 과의 차별성을 강조하며, 부모양육태도의 조기 개입이 국가정체성 함양에 미치는 중요성을 부각시킨데 그 의의가 있다.
