This paper examines the method of teaching children’s poetry using educational drama. The specific methods of teaching were role play and gesture play. This study examined the method of teaching children’s poetry as an educational method that can promote psychological development through the process of learners actively participating in education, expressing their emotions and thoughts, and all learners cooperating with others through the comprehensive situation of drama. The subjects of the study were Lee Won-soo’s poem “Spring in My Hometown,” Lee Dong-jin’s poem “Sunset,” and Kwon Oh-soon’s poem “Bead Rain.” The content of the study showed that children’s poetry education can be divided into introduction, development, and summary. Role play and gesture play each have their own characteristics and advantages, and it was revealed that in order for the two methods to be effectively utilized in children’s poetry education, the nature of the children’s poetry must be suitable for the characteristics of the method. It also examined that role play can be more effective when applied to children’s poems with many narratives or specific situations, and gesture play can be more effective when applied to children’s poems with many color words, onomatopoeia, and mimetic words.

본고는 교육연극을 활용하여 동시를 교육하는 방법에 대해 고찰하였다. 교육하는 구체적 방법은 역할극 과 몸짓놀이었다. 연극이라는 종합적 상황을 통해 학습자가 적극적으로 교육에 참여하고, 학습자가 자 신의 감정과 생각을 표현하며, 학습자 모두가 타인과 협력하는 과정을 통해 심리적 발달을 촉진할 수 있 는 교육 방법으로 동시 교육 방법을 고찰한 것이다. 고찰대상은 이원수의 동시 ｢고향의 봄｣, 이동진의 동시 노을, 권오순의 동시 ｢구슬비｣ 등이었다. 고찰 내용은 동시교육을 도입-전개-정리로 나눠 전개할 수 있음을 보였다. 역할극과 몸짓놀이는 각각 고유 한 특성과 장점을 지니고 있어 동시교육에 두 방법이 효과적으로 활용되기 위해서는 동시의 성격이 그 방법의 특성에 적합해야 하는 점을 밝혔다. 역할극은 동시 속에 서사나 특정 상황이 많은 동시에 적용하 기에 더 효과적일 수 있으며 몸짓놀이는 색채어나 의성어 의태어가 많은 동시에 활용하기가 더 효과적 일 수 있는 점도 살폈다
