This study compares and examines the characteristics of Seonghwangsinje Mask Dance. The mask dances that can be classified as Seonghwangsinje Mask Dance include Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori, Gangneung Gwanno Mask Dance, and Jain Palgwangdae. The perspective of the examination is the imaginative power of community consciousness and transcendental solidarity, the imaginative power of emotional alienation, and the imaginative power of social satire and hierarchical roles inherent in Seonghwangsinje Mask Dance, a folk art field, and examines the divinity, ritual, satire, and artistic value.

본고는 성황신제가면희의 특성을 통해 상상력의 구조를 고찰하였다. 성황신 제 가면극으로 분류할 수 있는 것은 하회별신굿탈놀이, 강릉관노가면극, 자인 팔광대 등이다. 고찰 관점은 성황신제가면희 속에 내재한 공동체 의식과 초월적 연대의 상상력, 감정소외의 상상력, 사회적 풍자와 계층적 역할의 상상력을 분석하는 것이었다. 분석은 신격과 제의성과 풍자와 예술적 가치와 관련지었다. 성황신제가면희는 한국 전통 사회에서 상상력과 현실, 신성함과 일상성, 사 회적 풍자와 공동체의식을 결합한 독특한 예술 형식이다. 성황신제가면희 속 상상력 구조는 신과 인간의 경계를 허물고, 사회적 역할을 해체하여 관객이 새로운 시각에서 현실을 바라보는 특성을 지녔다.
