Purpose of Study : The purpose of this study is to explore the competencies and experiences developed by students through solving the performance planning problem in the "Music Teaching Methods" course using Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Research Content and Methods : This study applied PBL to a "Music Teaching Methods" course at a 2-year college in South Korea, where 40 students participated over 7 weeks. During the course, students engaged in solving a performance planning problem, linking theory and practice to enhance their problem-solving skills. Data was collected through focus group interviews and analyzed using content analysis methods. Conclusion and suggestion : The study demonstrated that PBL in music education effectively provides students with practical and creative learning experiences while enhancing their problem-solving and collaboration skills. Students developed creative thinking and problem-solving abilities through the performance planning process and recognized the importance of teamwork and relationship-building. However, limitations were found in the course, such as time constraints, the burden of solving complex problems, and difficulties in building collaborative relationships. To address these issues, it is recommended to secure sufficient learning time, enhance faculty support during the problem-solving process, and include collaboration skills training and teamwork-building activities in course design. The study suggests that further research should focus on maximizing the benefits of PBL in music education and providing specific educational strategies to address the identified limitations.

연구 목적 : 본 연구는 PBL(Problem-Based Learning)을 활용한 ‘음악교수학습방법’ 수업에서 학습자들이 공연기획 문제를 해결하는 과정을 통해 함양한 역량과 경험을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 내용 및 방법 : 본 연구는 국내 2년제 예술대학교 ‘음악교수학습방법’ 강좌에 PBL을 적용하여 40명의 학생을 대상으로 7주간의 수업을 진행하였다. 수업 과정에서 학생들은 공연기획 문제를 해결하는 활동을 수행하며, 이론과 실습을 연계하여 문제 해결 능력을 키웠다. 자료수집은 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 이루어졌으며, 수집된 자료는 내용분석 방법을 통해 분석되었다. 결론 및 제언 : 본 연구는 PBL을 활용한 음악교육이 학생들에게 실질적이고 창의적인 학습경험을 제공하며, 문제 해결과 협력 역량을 강화하는 데 효과적임을 보여주었다. 학생들은 공연기획 과정에서 창의적 사고와 문제 해결 능력을 발달시켰고, 협력적인 팀워크를 통해 관계 형성의 중요성을 체감하였다. 그러나 수업 과정에서 시간 부족, 복잡한 문제 해결에 대한 부담감, 협력적 관계 형성의 어려움 등 여러 제한점도 확인되었다. 이를 보완하기 위해 충분한 학습 시간을 확보하고, 문제 해결 과정에 대한 교수자의 지원을 강화하며, 팀워크와 협력 기술 교육을 포함한 수업 설계가 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 PBL 기반 음악교육의 장점을 극대화하고, 제한점을 보완하기 위한 구체적인 교육적 전략을 제시하는 후속 연구가 필요함을 제언한다.
