This paper examines the palatalization phenomenon of the Hangul readings and interpretations of Chinese characters included in Zhuzi’s “Quotations Annotation”. Generally, the concept of “Quotations Annotation” refers not only to the vocabulary interpretations of “Zhuzi Quotations” but also serves as a collective term for works that interpret vocabulary from foreign texts. The literature related to “Quotations Annotation” is the most important material for studying modern Chinese vocabulary, and it holds significant value for research on the history of the Korean language as well. The vocabulary included in Zhuzi’s “Quotations Annotation” has been represented in a confusing manner, mixing the Chinese character readings, Hangul readings, and Hangul interpretations. While many scholars have conducted research on the explanations, content, editions, readings, and interpretations of “Quotations Annotation” there has been relatively little interest in the phonological phenomena that arise from the Hangul readings and interpretations. Therefore, this paper conducts a phonological examination of the Hangul readings and interpretations of Chinese characters included in Zhuzi’s “Quotations Annotation” particularly focusing on the realization patterns of palatalization.

본 논문은 주자(朱子) 『어록해(語錄解)』 수록 어휘의 한글 주음(注音)과 해석에서 나타나 는 구개음화 현상에 대해 살펴봤는데 못적을 둔다. 어록해는 『주자어록(朱子語錄)』 수록 어휘에 대한 해석을 포함한 외국에서 전래된 작품에 대한 어휘류 해석 저서의 총칭을 가리킨다. 『주자어록』은 주희(朱熹)가 강학할 당시 제자들의 질문에 답한 어록 모음집으로 대화 형식으로 이루어졌으며 당시 송나라 시기의 시음(時音), 방언, 속어(俗語), 구어(口語) 및 난해한 단어들이 수록되었다. 당시 조선 시대 사람들이 주자사상(朱子思想)을 학습하고 이해함에 있어 많은 어려움이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 조선 시기의 유학자들은 어록 주해류(語彙 註解類) 저서를 편찬하였는데 그중 하나가 바로 『어록해』이다. 『어록해』는 근대 한어 어휘를 연구하는 데 중요한 자료로서, 한국어사 연구에 있어 그 가치는 상당하다. 『주자어록』의 수록 어휘 아래는 한자 석의(釋義), 한글 주음, 한글 해석을 혼기(混記)되었다. 그동안 『어록해』의 해제, 판본, 내용, 주음과 석의 방식 등에 관한 연구가 보다 많이 이루어져 왔지만, 『어록해』의 한글 주음과 한글 해석에서 나타나는 음운현상에 관한 연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 논문은 주자 『어록해』 수록 어휘의 한글 해석에서의 음운론적 연구를 진행하였는데, 그중에서도 특히 구개음화의 실현 양상에 대해 고찰하였다.
