영어

Cantonese is one of the seven major dialects of China. Since the Opium War, a large number of English loanwords have appeared in Chinese language with the influx of Western culture. Especially compared with other regions, Cantonese-speaking regions, which had earlier and frequent contact with foreigners, produced a large number of loanwords very early. In addition, during the 99 years of British colonization of Hong Kong, Hong Kong people used English as the official language for a long time. Cantonese has a lot of loanwords from English, English vocabulary is mixed with Cantonese to form loanwords, and even English letters are used directly. This paper examines the process of Cantonese foreign languages’s forming through the geographical location and historical events, and the changes of Cantonese foreign languages between ≪Hong Kong style Cantonese dictionary≫(≪港式廣州話詞典≫, 1999) and ≪The great Hong Kong Cantonese dictionary≫(≪香港粵語大詞典≫, 2019), summarizing Cantonese foreign words extracted from the two dictionaries. Through imported foreign words, we can understand the influence on the original language and the social situation at the time. Further, this paper examins the characteristics of the language through the borrowing pattern of foreign languages.

粵語는 중국의 7대 방언 중 하나이다. 아편전쟁 이후 서구 문화의 유입과 함께 중국어권에서도 영어의 외래어가 대거 출현하였는데, 특히 다른 지역에 비해 외국인과의 접촉이 빠르고 빈번했던 월어 사용 지역은 매우 일찍부터 외래어를 대량 생산하였다. 99년의 영국 식민지 기간 동안 홍콩인들은 오랫동안 영어 를 공용어로 사용하였을 뿐만 아니라, 월어는 영어에서 외래어를 많이 흡수하고, 영어 어휘를 월어와 혼용하 여 외래어를 형성하며, 심지어 영어 문자를 직접 사용하기도 한다. 본고는 지리적 위치와 역사적 사건을 통해 광둥어 외래어의 형성 과정을 살펴보고, ≪港式廣州話詞典≫ (1999)과 ≪香港粵語大詞典≫(2019)의 두 사전에서 추출한 광둥어 외래어를 정리하여 차용 양상을 살펴보 았다. 이 과정을 통해 월어 외래어가 원어에 미치는 영향과 당시 사회적 상황을 이해하며, 월어 외래어의 언 어적 특성을 파악한다.
