This paper delves deeply into how Zhuangzi's aesthetic concepts can be applied to modern digital environments, such as the metaverse. The metaverse, through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, offers users immersive experiences that transcend physical reality, creating new forms of social interaction and modes of existence. This study explores how Zhuangzi's aesthetic philosophy, particularly his thoughts on harmony with nature, "Wu Wei" (non-action), imagination, and the dissolution of the boundary between reality and dreams, can be reinterpreted in this context. Zhuangzi's concept of "Wu Wei" is closely linked to the user's ability to naturally explore and discover themselves within the metaverse, without artificial constraints. The metaverse, free from the limitations of the physical world, provides a space for users to explore freely, aligning with Zhuangzi's ideal of a natural flow of existence. Imagination, as emphasized in Zhuangzi's philosophy, plays a crucial role in the metaverse, where users can create new digital worlds and fully immerse themselves in these experiences, transcending the physical reality. Furthermore, this study connects Zhuangzi’s concept of relativity with the fluidity of identity within the metaverse. The metaverse offers an environment where users can experiment with and express various identities, echoing Zhuangzi's philosophical approach of exploring the fluid and ever-changing self. Through avatars, users can express themselves in multifaceted ways, forming new kinds of social relationships that are difficult to achieve in physical reality. This provides an important basis for reinterpreting Zhuangzi's concept of the fluid self in the context of the digital age. This study presents Zhuangzi's aesthetic perspective as a vital theoretical framework for understanding user experiences within the metaverse and analyzing how human existence and experience are restructured in modern society. Such philosophical approaches shed new light on human experience and existence in the metaverse era, contributing to a deeper understanding of the interaction between humans and technology in the digital age. Specifically, the immersive and hyperreal experiences in the metaverse resonate with Zhuangzi's philosophical reflections, such as the "Dream of the Butterfly," allowing users to explore new ways of existence by dissolving the boundary between reality and dreams. Consequently, this paper emphasizes that the fusion of Zhuangzi's aesthetics with the metaverse can significantly expand aesthetic thinking in the digital age, laying the foundation for future philosophical discussions in metaverse environments.

이 논문은 장자의 미학적 개념이 메타버스와 같은 현대 디지털 환경에서 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지를 심층적으로 탐구한다. 메타버스는 가상 현실(VR)과 증강 현실 (AR) 기술을 통해 사용자에게 물리적 현실을 초월한 몰입형 경험을 제공하는 디지털 시공간으로, 이는 새로운 형태의 사회적 상호작용과 존재의 방식을 가능하게 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 메타버스 환경에서 장자의 미학적 사유, 특히 자연과의 조화, 무위자연 (無爲自然), 상상력, 그리고 현실과 꿈의 경계를 허무는 철학적 사고가 어떻게 재해석 될 수 있는지 고찰한다. 장자의 무위자연 개념은 메타버스 내에서 사용자가 인위적 제 한 없이 자연스럽게 경험을 탐색하고 자기 자신을 발견하는 과정과 밀접하게 연결된 다. 메타버스는 물리적 세계의 제약에서 벗어나, 사용자가 자유롭게 탐험할 수 있는 공 간을 제공하며, 이는 장자가 추구한 자연스러운 존재의 흐름과 일맥상통한다. 장자의 철학에서 강조되는 상상력은 메타버스에서 사용자가 새로운 디지털 세계를 창조하고 몰입하는 데 필수적인 요소로 작용하며, 이를 통해 사용자들은 기존의 물리적 현실을 넘어서는 초현실적 경험을 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 또한 장자가 제시한 상대성의 개념과 메타버스 내에서의 자아의 유동성을 연결하여 논의한다. 메타버스는 사용자가 다양한 정체성을 실험하고 표현할 수 있는 환경을 제공하며, 이는 고정된 자아를 넘어서 변화 무쌍한 자아를 탐색하는 장자의 철학적 접근과 유사하다. 사용자는 메타버스 내에서 아바타를 통해 자신을 다각도로 표현하고, 현실에서 얻기 어려운 새로운 형태의 사회 적 관계를 형성한다. 이는 장자가 이야기한 유동적 자아의 개념을 디지털 시대에 맞게 재해석할 수 있는 중요한 근거를 제공한다. 본 연구는 장자의 미학적 관점이 메타버스 내에서의 사용자 경험을 이해하는 데 중요한 이론적 틀을 제공함을 제시하며, 이를 통 해 메타버스가 현대 사회에서 인간의 존재와 경험을 어떻게 재구성하는지를 분석한다. 이러한 철학적 접근은 메타버스 시대에서의 인간 경험과 존재의 본질을 철학적으로 재 조명하고, 디지털 시대에서 인간과 기술의 상호작용을 새롭게 이해하는 데 기여할 수 있다. 특히, 메타버스 내에서의 몰입 경험과 초현실적 경험은 장자의 “호접지몽”과 같 은 철학적 사유와 맞닿아 있으며, 이는 사용자가 현실과 꿈의 경계를 허물며 새로운 존 재 방식을 탐색할 수 있게 한다. 결과적으로, 본 논문은 장자의 미학과 메타버스의 결 합이 디지털 시대의 미학적 사유를 확장하는 데 중요한 기여를 할 수 있음을 강조하며, 미래 메타버스 환경에서의 철학적 논의의 기반을 제공한다.
