This paper is a study that attempts to understand the phenomenon in a time of crisis in the church where the decline in church membership is noticeable, and to approach how to overcome and respond to this phenomenon. Based on this recognition of the problem, the paper examines the reality of the contraction of church membership in Korean churches and suggests theoretical, practical, and social sources of power for church growth as an alternative to overcome this phenomenon. The paper is structured as follows. Chapter 2 of the text provides a phenomenological understanding of the reality of the church in the era of population decline. Chapter 3 examines the problems with the general analysis of the decline in Korean church membership, and examines the decline in Korean church membership by applying three theories of the rise and fall of religion. Finally, Chapter 4 concludes with suggestions on how the Korean church can overcome this crisis internally in this era of significant decline in church membership.

이 논문은 교인 감소가 두드러지는 교회의 위기 시대에 그 현황을 파악하고, 이를 어떤 방식 으로 극복하고 대응해 나갈지에 대해 접근을 시도한 연구이다. 이런 문제 인식을 토대로 논문 은 한국교회의 교세 수축 현황의 실태를 들여다본다. 구체적으로 교인이 감소하는 일반적인 분 석에 대한 문제점을 살펴보고, 종교 성쇠의 3가지 이론을 적용하여 한국교회의 교세 감소 현상 을 들여다본다. 그리고 논문은 교회의 위기를 극복하기 위한 대안으로 요아힘 바흐의 3가지 종 교 분류를 차용하여 교회 성장을 위한 이론적, 실천적, 사회적 동력을 제언한다. 먼저, 논문에 서는 한국교회 위기를 극복하고 교회의 재(再)성장을 위한 이론적 표현으로, 한국 개신교의 교 리와 신학에 대한 유연성을 제안하면서 옴니 채널과 리좀적인 유연함과 개방성 그리고 다원적 선택권을 강조한다. 실천적 표현으로는 종교적 제의, 즉 예배에 대한 다양성의 요청과 동시에 예배 정신의 성서적 전통으로의 회귀와 일관성을 강조한다. 마지막 사회적 표현으로는 한국교회 공동체의 체질 개선을 요구하면서 만인사제설에 기초한 평등주의 강화와 교회내 거버넌스 구축을 제안한다. 이런 방식으로 논문은 교인 감소가 두드러지는 시대에 한국교회가 내부적으 로 어떤 방식으로 이 위기를 극복해 나갈지에 대한 제언으로 마무리한다.
