This study aimed to explore effective methods for teaching sijo, a traditional Korean literary form, to foreign learners through YouTube. Specifically, it examines how the traditional structure and sentiment of sijo can be conveyed in a digital environment, positioning sijo as a culturally significant learning material for international students. The research involved reviewing prior studies on sijo cultural education and applying connectivist learning theory to propose a YouTube-based sijo education framework. This framework consists of two main approaches: (1) introducing Korean culture by exploring the lives of sijo writers and the historical contexts of their works; and (2) showcasing diverse modes of sijo performance, including its appreciation and expression. By leveraging audiovisual materials on YouTube, the study illustrates how the lives of sijo poets and the performance aspects of their works can foster a closer connection with classical Korean literature. The analysis highlights YouTube’s educational potential and its effects on sijo teaching and learning. This study is significant in proposing a new approach to sijo education for foreign learners, utilizing YouTube as a global platform. However, its limitation lies in the lack of empirical evidence regarding specific learning outcomes. Future research should focus on verifying these outcomes to establish a more refined and effective framework for teaching classical literature in the digital age.

본 연구는 유튜브 플랫폼을 활용하여 외국인 학습자에게 한국 전통 문학인 시 조를 효과적으로 교육할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것을 목표로 한다. 즉, 시조의 전통적 형식과 정서가 디지털 환경에서 어떻게 전달될 수 있는지에 주목하고, 이 를 통해 시조가 외국인 학습자에게 문화적 가치를 지닌 학습 소재로 자리매김할 수 있는 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구 절차는 먼저 시조 문화 교육과 관련된 선행연구를 검토한 뒤, 연결주의 학 습이론을 적용하여, 유튜브를 활용한 시조의 문화 교육 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 유튜브를 활용한 시조의 문화 교육 방안은 첫째, 시조 작자의 삶과 시조 창작 배경 감상을 통한 한국 문화 교육의 방안과, 둘째, 시조 연행의 다양성 이해 및 시조 감 상과 시조 표현 교육 방안으로 나누어 논의를 전개하였다. 이를 통해 시청각적 자 료 활용 방식이 시조 작가의 생애나, 또 시조 작품 자체의 연행 양상을 생생히 전 달하여 학습자들이 시조를 비롯한 한국 고전문학에 보다 친숙해질 수 있음을 고찰 할 수 있었다. 이러한 과정에서 유튜브의 특성이 시조 교육에 미치는 교육적 효과 와 가능성을 다각적으로 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 의의는 시조를 글로벌 플랫폼인 유튜브를 통해 외국인 학습자에게 전달하는 새로운 교육 접근을 제안했다는 데 있다. 그러나 본 연구는 유튜브를 통 한 시조 문화 교육의 구체적인 성과를 실증적으로 검토하는 데에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 점에서 향후 연구에서는 시조 문화 교육에서의 학습 성과를 구체적으로 검 증하여 디지털시대에 보다 더 적합한 고전문학 교육의 체계를 더욱 정교하게 구축 하는 것이 필요하다.
