This paper examines what kind of literary movement they were aiming for by paying attention to the quarterly literary arts magazine “Ningentoshite”, in which social writers such as Makoto Oda, Shibata Sho, Kazumi Takahashi, Nobuhiko Matsugi, and Takeshi Kaiko participated in the composition and editing. Published temporarily from 1970 to 1973, “Ningentoshite” was the base of the literary movement for its peers to diagnose their contemporaries, derive problems, and seek solutions. In the 1970s, when the “season of politics” came to an end, the members of “Ningentoshite” tried to leave a “testament to the times” by somehow linguizing the fragmented reality. It was a literary battle as a human being to save the times. Kazumi Takahashi was the focal point of the literary battle. Although he passed away in 1971, his theory of intellectualism and active transformation that dismantling and creation of patterned phenomena is the task of art or the younger generation were the focal points for leading “Ningentoshite”. The problem he raises is also the current humanities task. The literary movement of “Ningentoshite” did not set anything, but maintained an attitude to conflict with as many different perspectives as possible from a relativistic standpoint and to derive abundant possibilities through expressive actions. In particular, it is noteworthy that it tried to find a methodological basis for self-formation against chaos and fragmentation from nothing without acknowledging anything like God or authority. As such, “Ningentoshite” was a literary movement that pursued the possibility of solidarity through an attitude of asking back to oneself, opening oneself up to others and outside, and engaging without sitting on the sidelines.
