The purpose of this study is to reexamine Donghak philosophy from the perspective of cooperation, symbiosis, and evolution. Faced with major global problems such as war and climate crisis, humanity now needs to reconsider the tasks of cooperation, symbiosis, and evolution. In addition, at a time when Christianity and rationalism, which were the philosophical foundations of modern civilization, are being criticized and indigenous beliefs prior to growthism are receiving new attention, Donghak, the indigenous religion of Korea, can be said to show an alternative path to these tasks of the times. The research method for this is to examine various theories of cooperation, symbiosis, and evolution and compare the thoughts of Donghak related to these to confirm their similarities and uniqueness. The content of this study is, first, that the spirit and attitude of cooperation of Donghak, which is filled with respect, goes beyond the practical and strategic dimensions shown in the Western theory and philosophy of cooperation, and pursues equality of classes and genders, and further shows the cosmic partnership of heaven and human, which pursues cooperation between heaven and human. Second, unlike the existing symbiotic theory that only pursues the peaceful coexistence of all beings, Donghak presented the symbiotic stewardship of ‘Yangcheonju’ that ‘nurtures all beings.’ Lastly, Donghak went beyond the evolutionary theory of the existing ecological thought that sees everything as connected and showed the path of participatory evolution through ‘harmony’ containing the spirituality of Hanul and ‘Icheonsacheon’ that advances the solidarity growth and development of all things. The result of this study is that our society, suffering from climate crisis, war, political conflict, and various social problems, needs a transformational perspective on life, and Donghak, our idea, can provide deep insight at this time. In addition, Donghak is sufficient to become the ideological foundation of official institutions including the constitution, like in South America, and can contribute to the birth of new ecological laws and systems.

이 연구의 목적은 동학사상을 협력, 공생, 진화의 관점에서 재조명하는 것이다. 전쟁과 기후위기 등 커다란 지구적 문제에 직면하여 현재 인류는 협력, 공생, 진화의 과제를 다시 생각해 볼 때이다. 또한 현대 문명의 철학적 기반이 되었던 기독교 및 합리주의 철학이 비판받고 있으며 성장주의 이전의 토착신앙이 새로운 조명을 받고 있는 현 시점에서 한국의 토착신앙인 동학은 이러한 시대적 과제에 대안적 길을 보여준다고 할 수 있다. 이에 대한 연구 방법은 협력, 공생, 진화의 여러 이론을 살펴보고 이와 관련된 동학의 사상을 비교하여 유사성 및 고유성을 확인하는 것이다. 이 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서구의 협력 이론 및 철학이 보여주는 실용적, 전략적 차원에 그치지 않은, 공경이 담긴 동학의 협력의 정신과 태도(사인여천 등)는 계급과 성의 평등을 지향하며 더 나아가 하늘과 인간의 협력을 추구하는, 천인상여의 우주적 파트너십을 보여준다는 것이다. 둘째, 모든 존재의 평화적 공존을 추구하는 것에 그치는 기존 공생 이론과 달리 동학은 ‘서로를 살리는’ 양천주의 공생적스튜어드십을 제시했다는 것이다. 마지막으로, 모든 것을 연결된 것으로 파악하는 기존 생태사상의 진화 이론에서 더 나아가, 동학은 한울의 영성이 담긴 ‘조화’와, 만물의 연대적 성장발전으로 나아가는 이천사천을 통한, 참여적 진화의 길을 보여주었다는 것이다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 기후위기, 전쟁, 정치 갈등, 각종 사회문제로 고통을 겪고 있는 우리 사회는 생명에 대한 전환적 시각이 필요하며 이때 우리의 사상인 동학이 깊은 통찰을 줄 수 있다는 것이다. 또한 동학도 남미처럼 헌법을 비롯한 공식적 제도의 사상적 기초가 되기에 충분하며 새로운 생태적 법·제도로 탄생하는데 기여할 수 있다고 본다.
