University education increasingly highlights the importance of competency-based education, which aims to accurately identify the skills required by future society and systematically foster them. This study aims to examine the current status and effectiveness of tourism major courses operated as competency-based subjects. To achieve this research objective, t-test, Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), and regression analysis were conducted. The analysis results indicate that the performance levels of major competency evaluation items perceived by students are generally slightly lower than the importance levels. However, there were no items identified as urgently requiring concentrated efforts, while the items to maintain as strengths included community and communication competencies for team collaboration and understanding and applying professional knowledge in tourism. Additionally, it was found that higher performance in self-development and problem-solving competencies, team competencies, and professional competencies in tourism leads to increased class satisfaction and enhanced learning outcomes. Based on these findings, several suggestions are proposed for more efficient competency-based education in tourism majors.

대학교육은 미래 사회가 요구하는 역량을 정확히 진단하고 이를 체계적으로 육성하기 위한 역량 기반 교육의 중요 성이 점차 부각되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 역량기반 교과목으로 운영되고 있는 관광전공 수업의 운영 실태와 이에 대한 효과를 파악해 보고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적 달성을 위해 t-test, IPA 분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 분석결 과 학생들이 인지하는 전공역량 평가 항목에 대한 성취도 수준은 중요도 수준보다 대체적으로 다소 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 시급하게 노력 집중화가 필요한 항목은 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 강점 유지 항목은 팀원과 조화를 이루어야 하는 공동체 및 의사소통 역량, 관광전공 전문지식 이해 및 활용 역량으로 나타났다. 또한, 자기개발·문제해결역량, 팀 역량, 관광전공 전문지식 역량을 높게 성취할수록 수업만족과 학습성과가 상승하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으 로 보다 효율적인 관광전공 역량기반 교육을 위한 몇 가지 대안을 제안하였다.
