This study aims to systematically analyze the research trends on facilitators and identify implications for research directions and development issues in the field of facilitators. To this end, a total of 78 articles, including 39 theses and 39 dissertations, on facilitator research from 2009 to 2024 were analyzed, categorized by article type, research subject, academic field, journal, research method, and research topic. The results showed that, first, facilitator research has been steadily increasing since 2009, with a balance of theses and dissertations. Second, facilitators, subject matter experts, programs, and materials were the most studied subjects. Third, the field of study was most often published in the field of continuing education. Fourth, the journals were active in education-related fields such as continuing education-HRD, learner-centered instruction, agricultural education, and human resource development. Fifth, the research methods were predominantly qualitative, especially case studies, with a few quantitative and mixed methods studies. Sixth, the most common research topics were facilitator competencies, roles, techniques, and models. This study is significant in that it comprehensively analyzes the current status and flow of facilitator research at a time when facilitator research is actively being conducted, suggests future research directions and issues, and provides implications for improving facilitator education and training.

본 연구는 퍼실리테이터에 대한 연구동향을 체계적으로 분석하고 퍼실리테이터 분야의 연구 방향과 발전 과제에 필요한 시사점을 파악하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 2009년부터 2024년까지 퍼실리테이터 연구에 대한 학위논문 39편과 학술논문 39편 총 78편을 중심으로 논문 유형, 연구대상, 학문 분야, 학술지, 연구방법, 연구주제별로 구분하여 연구자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 논문 유형은 2009년부터 퍼실리테이터 연구가 꾸준히 증가하였고, 최근 학위논문과 학술논문이 균형을 이루며 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 둘째, 연구대상은 퍼실리테이터, 분야 전문가, 프로그램 및 자료 순으로 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 셋째, 학문 분야는 평생교육 분야에서 가장 많이 발표되었다. 넷째, 학술지에서는 평생교육·HRD, 학습자중심교과교육, 농업교육과 인적자원개발 등 교육 관련 분야에서 활발하게 이루어졌다. 다섯째, 연구방법은 질적 연구가 주를 이루었으며 특히 사례연구가 많았고, 양적 연구와 혼합연구도 일부 수행되었다. 여섯째, 연구주제는 퍼실리테이터의 역량, 역할, 기법 및 모형 순으로 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 퍼실리테이터 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 현재 시점에서, 퍼실리테이터 연구의 현황과 흐름을 종합적으로 분석하여 향후의 연구 방향과 과제를 제시하고, 퍼실리테이터 교육 및 훈련 개선에 필요한 시사점을 제공할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
