This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a community-based bereavement education program for elderly after spousal bereavement. The study was conducted as a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group and pretest-posttest design. The subjects were community elders aged over 65 registered at a community health center and were convenience sampled. The experimental group consisted of 10 participants and the control group consisted of 10 participants. Experiments are conducted from October 17 to 31, 2022. The experimental group had significantly lower scores for depression than the control group after treatment. And The experimental group had significantly higher scores for post bereavement growth than the control group after treatment. We found that the program developed in this study was partially effective in improving bereavement older adults’ depression and post bereavement growth.

본 연구는 배우자 사별 후 노인을 위한 지역사회 기반 사별 교육 프로그램의 효과를 확인하기 위한 비동 등성 대조군 전후설계의 유사실험연구이다. 실험군은 지역 보건소에 등록된 65세 이상의 지역사회 노인으로 편의 표집을 실시하였으며, 실험군과 대조군 각 10명을 표집하였다. 실험처치는 2022년 10월 17일부터 31일까지 6회기로 이루어졌으며 회기 당 1시간씩 진행하였다. 연구의 가설검정은 Mann-Whitney U 및 Wilcoxon signed rank 검정 을 이용하였다. 실험처치 후 실험군은 대조군보다 우울 점수가 유의하게 낮아졌고, 사별 후 성장 점수가 대조군보 다 유의하게 높아졌다. 본 연구에서 개발·적용된 마을단위의 배우자 사별 교육 프로그램은 노인의 사별 후 우울증 과 성장을 개선하는데 부분적으로 효과적임을 확인하였으며, 추후 프로그램의 수정․보완을 통한 반복연구를 제언한다.
