Glocal is a new word that refers to ‘having globality and locality at the same time’ and is a new word that started in business administration and has now spread throughout society, economy, and culture. This has become one of our survival strategies in the modern era where national barriers have significantly disappeared due to globalization. Currently, in Korea, the field in which such glocalization has been successful is popular culture. In this paper, based on my experience lecturing on the conversion of classical literature into cultural content, I explored the possibility of connecting it with the cultural content of classical literature on the topic of ‘Glocal era, responses of language and literature.’ The popularity of Korean pop culture, which began in the late 1990s with Korean TV dramas that were popular in China and Southeast Asia under the name of ‘Korean Wave’, has developed from “creation → deepening → diversification” to the point where we live in 2020. Eventually, glocal innovation was achieved with the term ‘K-culture’ rather than ‘Korean wave’. Meanwhile, there are a variety of cultural and artistic works that use our classical literature as content, but it is difficult to find works that have gone further than their popularity in Korea. This is because there is a lack of manpower who is familiar with classical literary works but can turn them into content. Therefore, a university system is needed that allows students in the Department of Korean Language and Literature who are familiar with classical literature to acquire knowledge and skills that can be converted into cultural content. This can be realized in a variety of ways, but in this paper, the author presented an example of an interconnected major and expressed the main points in designing such a course.

글로컬(glocal)이란 ‘세계성과 지역성을 동시에 갖추고 있음’을 나타내 는 말로 경영학에서 시작하여 현재 사회․경제․문화 전반으로 확산된 신조어이다. 이는 세계화로 인해 나라의 장벽이 현저히 사라진 현대를 살아가는 우리들의 생존 전략 중 하나가 되기도 한다. 현재 우리나라에서 는 이러한 글로컬이 성공적으로 이루어진 분야가 바로 대중문화라고 할 수 있다. 본고는 필자가 대하여 고전문학의 문화콘텐츠화와 관련한 강의 경험 을 토대로 ‘글로컬 시대, 언어와 문학의 응답’이라는 주제에 대해 고전문 학의 문화콘텐츠화와 연결하여 그 가능성을 탐색해보았다. 1990년대 후 반부터 ‘한류’라는 이름으로 중국 및 동남아시아 지역을 중심으로 인기가 있었던 한국 TV 드라마에서 시작된 한국 대중문화의 인기는 “생성 → 심화 → 다양화”에 이르기까지 발전되어 2020년을 사는 지금에 이르러서 는 ‘한류’보다는 ‘K-컬처’라는 용어로 글로컬의 혁신을 이루었다. 한편 우리 고전문학을 콘텐츠로 한 문화예술 작품은 다양하지만, 우리 나라 안에서의 인기에서 더 나아간 작품을 찾기는 어려운 현실이다. 이는 고전문학 작품에 정통하면서도 이것을 콘텐츠화 할 수 있는 인력이 부족 하기 때문이다. 따라서 고전문학에 정통한 국어국문학과 학생들이 문화 콘텐츠화 할 수 있는 지식과 기술을 익힐 수 있게 하는 대학의 시스템이 필요하다. 이는 다양한 방식으로 실현할 수 있으나, 필자는 본고에서 연 계전공의 예를 제시하고, 이러한 교과목을 설계하는 데 있어서 주안점을 피력하였다.
