This research is to explore the influential attributes on attitude toward drug tourism and intention to visit to drug tourism destination. This research employed the concepts of perceived psychological and physical risk and emotional relief as the determinants. Previous studies claimed that perceived risk plays as a negative motivation for tourist decision making and his/her behavior while emotional relief during travel makes a tourist get refreshment from one’s daily mundane life. Adopting professional data collection service, this research recruited 250 data points in April 2024 from those who visited a tourism destination where drug is legally available at the time of their visit. We employed structural equation modeling to test the research hypotheses. The results disclosed that perceived psychological and physical risk influences attitude toward drug tourism and intention to visit to drug tourism destination. The results also showed that attitude toward drug tourism is influenced by emotional relief as well as perceived psychological and physical risk. Furthermore, the research findings revealed that intention to visit to drug tourism destination is affected by perceived psychological risk, emotional relief, and attitude toward drug tourism. This research sheds light on the drug tourism literature by identifying promotion and inhibiting factors on tourist behavior in the area of drug tourism. Theoretical and practical implication of this work is discussed at the end of manuscript.

본 연구는 마약관광에 대한 태도와 마약관광지 방문의도에 영향을 미치는 속성을 탐구하는 것을 그 연구 목적으로 한다. 이 연구에서는 인지된 심리적 및 육체적 위험과 정서 환기를 선행 요인으로 사용하였다. 이 전 연구들에 따르면 인지된 위험은 관광객의 의사결정과 행동에 부정적인 동기로 작용하며, 여행으로 인한 정서환기는 일상생활의 일상적인 스트레스로부터 관광객을 재충전시킨다고 한다. 이에 본 연구는 2024년 4 월 전문 데이터 수집 서비스를 활용하여 이전에 마약이 합법인 관광지를 방문한 경험이 있는 관광객들로부 터 250개의 데이터를 수집하였다. 연구 가설을 검증하기 위해서는 구조방정식 모델링을 사용하였다. 연구의 결과를 보면, 인지된 심리적 위험과 육체적 위험은 마약관광에 대한 태도에 영향을 미친다는 것이 확인되었 다. 마약관광에 대한 태도는 인지된 위험 뿐만 아니라 정서 환기에 의해서도 영향을 받는다는 결과가 나타났 다. 나아가, 마약관광지에 대한 방문 의도는 마약관광에 대한 심리적 위험과 정서 환기, 그리고 마약관광에 대한 태도에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 마약관광 분야에서 관광객 행동에 대한 촉진 및 억제 요인을 규명하였다는 점에서 의의를 가지고 있다. 연구 논문의 말미에 본 연구의 이론적 및 실용적 시 사점이 논의되었다.
