This study aims to analyze the desires and unconsciousness of the period in 12·12 The Day as a historical film. 2·12 The Day generated a considerable amount of discourse, as it dealt with the 12.12 military coup, which had remained unaddressed in Korean cinema. It can be said that 2·12 The Day contributed to expanding the spectrum of Korean historical films, especially considering that films thus far dealing with contemporary history contain only limited material. Historical films focusing on modern history are likely to reflect the desires and unconsciousness of the times in which they were made and to express sentiments that were desired to be expressed at the time but were not. With this in mind, this study analyzes the narrative and features of 2·12 The Day and suggests that the historical unconsciousness of the contemporary era is hidden at the point where 2·12 The Day calls to the audience. To identify this, I examine the composition of the characters in the film and then analyze the appearance of specific characters. The results here demonstrate that 2·12 The Day does not simply deal with the historical event of the December 12 military coup but also reflects questions about the origins of the current political dominance in South Korea and its procedural legitimacy. This shows that cinema is a complex product that goes beyond simple representations of the past and reflects current social desires and conflicts. This study is limited by the fact that it focused on a single film and was limited to the period of its production as well. However, the significance of this study is that it attempts to analyze the reproductive nature of historical films and their ideologies.

이 연구는 역사영화로서 <서울의 봄>(김성수, 2023)의 시대적 욕망과 무의식을 분석하는 것을 목표로 하였다. <서울의 봄>은 한국영화에서 그동안 다루지 않았던 12.12 군사 쿠데타를 다루면서 많은 담론을 생산해 냈다. 특히 그동안 현대사를 다루었던 영화들이 제한된 소재를 가지고 있었다는 점에서, <서울의 봄>은 한국의 역사영화의 스펙트럼을 확장하는데 기여했다고 평가 할 수 있다. 현대사를 배경으로 한 역사영화는 영화가 제작된 시대의 욕망과 무의식을 반영해, 말하고 싶지만 말하지 못했던 것을 우회적 표현하고 있을 가능성이 높다. 본 연구는 이러한 점을 염두에 두고 <서울의 봄>이 가지고 있는 내러티브와 특징을 분석한 다음 <서울의 봄>이 관객들을 소구한 지점에 동시대의 역사적 무의식이 숨어 있다고 보았다. 그것을 파악하기 위해 영화 속 인물들의 구도를 살펴본 다음, 특정 캐릭터의 모습에 대해 분석을 시도하였다. 연구의 결과, <서울의 봄>은 단순히 12.12 군사 쿠데타라는 역사적 사건을 다루는 것에 그치지 않고, 현재 한국 사회의 기원과 그것의 절차적 정당성에 대한 의문을 반영하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 영화가 단순한 과거의 재현을 넘어서 현재의 사회적 욕망과 갈등을 반영하는 복합적 산물 임을 보여준다. 이 연구는 단일 작품만을 대상으로 했다는 한계와 제작 시기의 시대상에만 머물렀다는 과제가 남아 있다. 그러 나 역사영화의 재현적 특성과 영화를 통한 이데올로기적 분석을 시도했다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
