The purpose of this research was to explore music therapy interns’ experiences of musical creativity. For this purpose the researcher interviewed eight music therapy interns who had been in their music therapy internship for at least six months and were within one year of completing their internship. The data collected were analyzed using consensual qualitative research methods, six domains and 26 categories were identified: ‘creative environment’, ‘emotional experience of creative moment’, ‘musical experience of creative moment’, ‘difficulty expressing creativity’, ‘striving for creative moment’ and ‘growth through creative moment’. The results showed that music therapy interns experienced pride, joy, catharsis, and novelty in creative moments and reported play, interaction, flow, and resource expansion in musical modalities. Although they also struggled with anxiety, pressure as a therapist and lack of musical skills, they strived to challenge themselves by creating new music, practicing their musical skills. This led to the power of music therapy interns to create creative moments in clinical practice and as these experiences accumulated, they were found to be motivated to experience creative moments with clients. Therefore, this research has significance in raising the importance of creativity in the growth process of music therapy interns and providing measures for the expression of creativity.

본 연구는 음악치료 인턴들의 음악적 창조성 경험을 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 음악치료 인턴십을 6개월 이상 진행하고 마무리한 지 1년 이내인 음악치료 인턴 8명을 면담하였다. 수집한 자료를 합의적 질적 연구 방법으로 분석하자 ‘창조성 발현 환경’, ‘창조적 순간의 정서적 경 험’, ‘창조적 순간의 음악적 경험’, ‘창조성 발현의 어려움’, ‘창조적 순간을 위한 노력’, ‘창조적 순 간을 통한 성장’으로 총 6개의 영역과 26개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 연구 결과, 음악치료 인턴들 은 창조적 순간에 뿌듯함과 즐거움, 카타르시스, 신기함을 경험하였으며, 음악적 양상으로 놀이, 상 호작용, 몰입, 자원의 확장을 보고하였다. 이외에 불안함과 치료사로서의 부담감, 음악적 기술 부족 등으로 어려움을 겪기도 하였으나 새로운 음악을 만들어 도전하고, 음악적 기술을 연습하며 노력하 는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 음악치료 인턴들이 임상에서 창조적인 순간을 만드는 힘으로 이어졌으며, 이러한 경험이 축적됨에 따라 내담자와 함께 창조적 순간을 경험하고 싶은 동기가 유발된 것으로 드러났다. 따라서 본 연구는 음악치료 인턴들의 성장 과정에서 창조성의 중요성을 높이고, 창조성 발현 방안을 마련하는 데 의의가 있다.
