The purpose of this study was to survey music therapy students and music therapists about their perceptions of research activities, research and researcher’s competences, and ways to develop them, and to use them as a basis for training and education for future researchers and for the development and professional improvement of the music therapy field. The survey was conducted for two weeks, and 149 data from 47 music therapy students and 102 music therapists were analyzed. The results of the study were as follows. First, there were differences in research activities between music therapy students and music therapists, such as the number of conferences they joined and their experience in presenting at conferences. Second, both music therapy students and music therapists recognized that research is important for the development of music therapy, but there were differences in their perceptions of whether research actually helps them in their clinical or academic work. In terms of perceptions of researchers’ competences, music therapists were generally more confident in their theoretical and practical competence in research. Finally, both music therapy students and music therapists reported that research-related education is necessary in their degree programs to develop research, and music therapy students reported institutional support, such as the provision of research experiences, and music therapists reported external support, such as research incentives. The findings of this study are significant in that they provide basic information for the development of research education and training, as well as systems and supports to promote research, at a time when research is being emphasized for the music therapy profession.

본 연구는 음악치료 전공생과 음악치료사를 대상으로 연구활동 현황, 연구와 연구역량, 그리고 발전 방안에 대한 인식을 조사하여 향후 연구자를 위한 훈련과 교육, 그리고 음악치료 분야의 발전과 전 문성 향상을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 하는 목적이 있다. 2주 동안 설문조사를 진행하여 음악치 료 전공생 47명, 음악치료사 102명, 총 149개의 자료가 분석되었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫 째, 음악치료 전공생과 음악치료사 사이에 가입한 학회 수, 학회 발표 경험 등 연구활동에서 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 음악치료 전공생과 음악치료사는 모두 음악치료 발전을 위해 연구는 중요하다고 인식 하였지만 현실적으로 연구가 임상이나 학업에 도움이 된다는 인식에는 차이를 보였다. 연구역량에 대한 인식에도 전반적으로 음악치료사들이 연구에 대한 이론적 ․ 수행적 역량에 높은 인식을 보였다. 마지막으로, 음악치료 전공생과 음악치료사 모두 연구 발전을 위해 연구 관련 교육이 학위과정에 필요하다고 하였으며, 음악치료 전공생은 연구 경험의 제공과 같은 제도적 지원이, 음악치료사들은 연구 인센티브와 같은 외적 지원이 필요하다고 응답하였다. 본 연구결과는 음악치료의 전문성을 위 해 연구가 강조되고 있는 현시점에서 연구를 위한 교육과 훈련, 그리고 연구 활성화를 위한 제도 및 지원 마련을 위한 기초정보를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
