The 2022 revised elementary moral education curriculum sets the goal of students growing into righteous citizens. In moral education, education for justice can be oriented towards developing the capacity to make judgments about right and wrong and strengthening the experience of just community. However, there is generally a limitation in that the emphasis tends to be primarily on developing students' moral judgment capacity. In this context, we aim to explore a teaching method that integrates both approaches through justice-through education. Justice-through education emphasizes practice through experience, serving as a method that combines both dimensions. I explored a teaching method of justice education using moral dilemmas found in the ancient Greek epic Iliad. This is because Iliad provides students with both direct and indirect experiences of justice. Additionally, it is an effective text for helping students reflect on their prior experiences of justice and grow from those reflections. By participating in the moral education class, students were able to strengthen their internal motivation to practice justice in their daily lives.

2022 개정 초등 도덕과 교육과정은 정의로운 시민으로 학생들이 성 장하는 것을 교과 목표로 설정하고 있다. 정의교육의 방향은 대체적으 로 옳고 그름에 대한 판단능력을 발달시키는 것, 정의 공동체 경험을 강화하는 교육 등으로 이루어질 수 있지만 현재 도덕과 교과는 학생들 의 도덕적 판단 능력을 발달시키는 방향으로 이루어지는 한계가 있다. 이에 우리는 정의에 대한 판단능력과 정의공동체 실천 경험을 통합할 수 있는 방안으로 정의를 활용한 교육에 관한 고찰을 하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 그 교육 방법으로 고대 그리스 서사사인 「일리아스」작품에 나타난 도덕적 딜레마를 활용한 수업 방법과 실제를 고찰하고자 한다. 그것은 「일리아스」의 작품 내용뿐만 아니라 딜레마 등이 학생들 에게 직·간접적인 정의 경험과 실천동기를 강화할 수 있는 텍스트이기 때문이다.
