This study aims to understand the effects of developmental rehabilitation services through art therapy on children with disabilities and their mothers, who have experience using these services. To achieve this, we analyzed 92 valid survey responses from mothers of children with disabilities under 18, conducted individual interviews with three additional participants, and applied a convergent parallel design for analysis. The study results are as follows: First, participants experienced difficulties, including the financial burden and time constraints of art therapy for developmental rehabilitation services. Second, many participants reported emotional distress due to a lack of support and the stress of raising a child with disabilities. Third, participants valued the emotional stability and developmental expectations provided by art therapy, which were linked to the child’s independence. Fourth, art therapy led to improved emotional stability and functional enhancement in children and positively impacted mothers by providing them with personal time. This study highlights the experiences of mothers using developmental rehabilitation services and suggests potential improvements to these services.

이 연구는 발달재활서비스 미술심리재활 이용 경험이 있는 장애아동의 모를 연구참여 자로 선정하여 장애아동 모가 경험하는 발달재활서비스 미술심리재활의 효과를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국의 18세 미만 장애아동의 모를 대상으로 92부의 유효한 설문 결과를 분석하고, 추가로 3명의 연구참여자와의 개인 면담을 진행하였으며 수렴적 병행 설계(convergent parallel design)를 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구참여자들은 발달재활서비스 미술심리재활의 비용 부담과 시간 제약 등 다양한 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 둘째, 대다수의 연구참여자가 장애아동 자녀를 돌보는 과정에 서 주변 지원의 부족 및 양육 스트레스로 인해 감정적 고통을 경험하고 있었다. 셋째, 연 구참여자들은 발달재활서비스 미술심리재활을 통한 장애아동 자녀의 정서적 안정과 발달 적 기대를 중시하였으며 이는 장애아동의 자립과 연관되는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 발달 재활서비스 미술심리재활을 통해 장애아동 자녀의 정서적 안정과 기능 향상 효과를 얻었 으며, 개인 시간 확보를 통한 장애아동 모의 긍정적인 기분 변화를 불러일으켰다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 이 연구는 발달재활서비스 미술심리재활을 이용하는 장애아동 모의 경 험을 통해 발달재활서비스의 개선점을 제시한 것에 그 의의가 있다.
