This paper examines the response patterns based on the by Seok Ji-hyeong(石之珩), who participated in the Byeongja- Horan(the Manchu War of 1636) as a royalist, and the by Shin Jeok-do(申適道), who participated in the royalist army. Seok Ji-hyeong intended to organize his position and present it to readers by recording the course of the Byeongjahoran faithfully and compiling it into a book. It seems that he needed to organize his own attitude, which had to take the position of Juhwa along with his criticism of Cheokhwa. While saying that he had no choice but to choose peace because of the survival of the country, he also showed an attitude of not abandoning loyalty to the Ming. Although he went so far as to surrender to the Qing, we can see that he still maintained an attitude of respecting the Ming and betraying the Qing. Shin Jeok-do, who participated in the war as a royalist in Yeongnam, recorded his military experience in the . Shin Jeok-do expressed his usual belief in loyalty through action and recorded his experiences in a diary. Through the diary, we can see not only the will to resist the Qing but also the loyalty to the Ming. The scholars who experienced the Byeongja-Horan inside and outside Namhansanseong supported either the Qing or the expulsion of the Qing, but we can see through the records that the consciousness of respecting the Ming and rejecting the Qing was based on the loyalty to the Ming. The loyalty to the Ming and expulsion of the Qing were not the only goals of the leading forces of the Injo Restoration, but they became the ideology and values shared by all the scholars of Joseon at the time. This can be easily read through the records of those who participated in the war as royal retainers at a young age or those who participated in the war as royal guards despite their old age.

본고는 병자호란 당시 扈從臣으로 참전했던 石之珩의 ≪南漢解圍錄≫ 과 勤王兵으로 참전한 申適道의 <倡義日錄>을 대상으로 응전 양상을 살펴본 것이다. 석지형은 병자호란의 경과를 착실하게 기록하여 책으로 엮어서 자 신의 입장을 정리하고, 이를 독자들에게 제시하려는 의도였다. 斥和 에 대한 비판과 함께 主和의 입장에 설 수밖에 없었던 자신의 태도에 대한 정리가 필요했기 때문으로 보인다. 나라의 존망 때문에 어쩔 수 없이 화친을 선택할 수밖에 없었음을 말하면서 한편으로는 명에 대 한 의리를 저버리지 않는 태도도 보여 주었다. 비록 청에 굴복하는 상황에 이르기까지 했으나 여전히 존명배청의 태도는 견지하고 있음 을 알 수 있다. 영남에서 擧義하여 근왕병으로 참전한 신적도는 자신의 종군 체험 을 <창의일록>으로 남겼다. 신적도는 평소에 갖고 있었던 충의의 신 념을 행동으로 발현하였고, 그 체험을 일기로 기록했다. 일기를 통해서 청에 대한 저항 의지는 물론이거니와 명에 대한 사대 의리를 동시에 엿볼 수 있다. 남한산성 내외에서 병자호란을 겪었던 사대부들은 주화든 척화든 어 느 한 편을 지지했으나 그 저변에는 대명의리에 입각한 존명배청 의식 이 자리하고 있었음을 실기를 통해 엿볼 수 있었다. 대명의리와 척화는 결코 인조반정 주도 세력만의 지향이 아닌 당시 조선 사대부 전체가 공 유하는 이념이자 가치가 되어 갔던 것이다. 젊은 나이에 호종신으로 참 전한 인물의 실기나 노년의 나이에도 불구하고 거의해 근왕병으로 참전 한 인물의 실기를 통해 이는 어렵지 않게 읽어낼 수 있다.
