This study examined the compilation and proofreading content of Sangryebiyobo by Park Geon-jung, a scholar of courtesy studies in the second half of Joseon. Sangryebiyobo is a book of funeral rites by Park who divided the body of Kim Jang-saeng’s Sangryebiyo into 135 paragraphs and 2,221 articles and supplemented the book by adding the courtesy theories of Jega and his own explanations to each clause of a paragraph. A revised edition of Sangryebiyobo is housed each at the Library of Chungbuk National University and the house of the eldest grandson of his head family. A final edition is housed at the Gyujanggak of Seoul National University. All of these editions are manuscripts. Park began the compilation work of this book in 1801, completed its draft in 1806, and studied its historical evidence and proofread it in 1841 with its final edition published after 1841. The two revised editions of his book provide very detailed records of his proofreading work that took him a couple of decades in the body. An inference based on these records suggests that the Chungbuk National University edition and the edition housed at the house of the eldest grandson of his head family were made in 1826 and 1836, respectively. In other words, the latter was made by reflecting the proofreading results of the former, and the Gyujanggak edition was completed by reflecting the proofreading results of the latter. It is estimated that the Gyujanggak edition was made after Park’s death in 1841. The three editions of Sangryebiyobo hold important significance for Park’s compilation of a book on funeral rites and his research on courtesy studies in the second half of Joseon and as a research case of courtesy studies that sought after extensive historical evidence and precise scholiastic work in the 18th-19th century.

이 연구는 조선후기 예학자 박건중의 ｢상례비요보｣ 편찬과 교정 내용을 살펴본 것이다. ｢상례비요보｣는 박건중이 김장생의 ｢상례비요｣ 본문을 134節 2,261條로 구분하고, 절목마다 제가의 예설과 자신의 해설을 붙여 증보한 喪禮書이다. 현재 충북대학교 도서관과 박건중 종손가에 교정본으로 각각 1건, 서울대학교 규장각에 최종본 1건이 전하고 있는데, 모두 필사본이다. 이 책은 1801년에 편찬작업을 시작하여 1806년에 초고를 완성하고, 1841년까지 고증과 교정작업을 진행하였으며, 최종본은 1841년 이후에 나왔다. 교정본 두 건의 본문에는 박건중이 수십 년간 진행한 교정기록이 매우 상세하게 기록되어 있다. 이 기록으로 유추하면 충북대본은 1826년, 종손가본은 1836년 즈음에 제작된 것으로 추정된다. 즉, 충북대본의 교정사항이 반영되어 제작된 것이 종손가본이고, 종손가본의 교정사항이 반영되어 최종 완성된 것이 규장각본으로 규장각본은 1841년 박건중 사후에 제작된 것으로 추정된다. 본 ｢상례비요보｣ 3건은 조선후기 박건중의 상례서 편찬과 그의 예학 연구뿐만 아니라 18∼19세기의 폭넓은 고증과 정밀한 훈고를 추구한 예학연구의 한 사례로 중요한 의미가 있다.
