This paper examines garden landscaping in the Southern Song dynasty through the analysis of two fan paintings, “Spring Slumber Among a Myriad of Flowers”and “Blooming Flowers in an Immortal's Pavilion”. Traditional Chinese garden aesthetics, a reflection of sophisticated upper- class culture, evolved through the convergence of scientific and professional knowledge in architecture and botany, as well as the aesthetic preferences of literati and painters who participated in the design and construction process. As a result, these gardens became representative of refined high culture. During the Southern Song period, Chinese garden architecture not only reached its peak but also coincided with the golden age of garden painting. Although garden landscaping and garden painting are distinct artistic genres, they share a heterogeneous isomorphism in their pursuit of visual beauty, developing in close relation to each other. Through literature review and image analysis, this study thoroughly examines and compares the garden layouts and traditional landscaping techniques depicted in “Spring Slumber Among a Myriad of Flowers” and “Blooming Flowers in an Immortal's Pavilion”. The analysis focuses on the arrangement of architectural structures, rocks, and ponds, as well as pathways, plants, and flowers, to explain the artistic transition between garden painting and garden landscaping techniques.Both paintings depict women enjoying the pleasures of leisure (清闲之乐) and observation of nature (观物之乐) within the gardens of their residences. These works offer deep insight into the daily lives of women at the time, revealing that garden design carefully incorporated elements that catered to their everyday activities. The painters, fully aware of the intentions of garden designers, vividly capture a slice of women’s daily life against the backdrop of a garden in “Spring Slumber Among a Myriad of Flowers”and “Blooming Flowers in an Immortal's Pavilion”. These paintings subtly and elegantly reflect the influence of female-centric perspectives on the content and form of the garden landscapes depicted.By connecting the depiction of women's daily activities in the garden with garden painting, this study highlights the close relationship between the purpose of the garden and landscaping techniques. It sheds light on a particular aspect of the development and characteristics of garden art in the Southern Song dynasty.

중국의 정원(원림)은 전통적인 주거 형태의 독특한 경관 미학을 표현하며 발전 하였다. 정원 조경은 건축, 식물학 등 과학적이고 전문적인 지식을 필요로 하게 되는 한편 주 향유자인 문인과 화가들도 설계와 건설에 참여하여 그들의 심미 취향을 반영 하게 되면서 고급한 상층문화를 대표하게 되었다. 특히 남송 시대에 이르러서 중국 정 원 건축은 전성기를 누렸을 뿐만 아니라 정원을 소재로 한 계화도 황금기를 맞이하였 다. 정원 조경과 계화는 서로간의 예술적 장르가 다르지만 시각적 아름다움을 추구하 는 이질적 동형성을 지니고 있어 이 둘은 서로 밀접한 관계를 맺으면서 발전하였다. 본 논문은 남송(南宋） 시대의 두 폭의 부채 그림 『만화춘수도（万花春睡 图）』와 『선관농화도（仙倌侬花图）』를 연구 대상으로 하여 정원 조경을 분석하였 다. 문헌 연구와 이미지 분석을 통해 『만화춘수도』와 『선관농화도』속에 표현된 정원의 경관 배치와 전통 조경 기법을 건축물의 배치, 바위와 연못의 배치, 산책로, 식 물과 꽃 등의 조경 요소를 자세히 분석하고 비교하여 계화와 정원 조경 기법 사이의 예 술적 전환을 설명하였다. 이 두 작품은 여성들이 저택에 조성된 정원에서 청한지락 （清闲之乐）과 관물지락（观物之乐）의 삶을 향유하는 것을 표현하고 있어서， 당시 여성들의 일상생활을 깊이 있게 들여다 보고 정원 조경 디자인에 그 일상 활동을 배려 하여 조경 요소를 배치하고 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 화가가 이런 조경 설계자들의 의도를 정확히 알고 정원을 배경으로 한 여성의 일상생활의 한 단면을 『만화춘수도』와 『선관농화도』에 표현하고 있으며 그림 속 조경의 내용과 형식에 섬세하고 세련된 여성 중심적인 영향을 충분히 반영하고 있다. 당시 계화에 나타난 여성의 정원 속 일상활동을 연결하여 연구함으로써 정원의 용도와 조경 기법의 밀접한 관계를 조명하고 남송시대 정원 조경 예술의 발전과 특성의 한 단 면을 규명하였다.
