Considering prior research suggesting the influence of interventions targeting emotional clarity, such as emotion regulation, on mental health issues including depression, this study aimed to investigate the sequential mediating effects of executive function deficits and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies on the relationship between emotional clarity and depression. The results of the analysis revealed that executive function deficits and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies fully mediated the relationship between emotional clarity and depression in a sequential manner. Additionally, executive function deficits fully mediated the association between emotional clarity and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, as well as the association between emotional clarity and depression. However, maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies only partially mediated the relationship between emotional clarity and depression. This highlights the significance of understanding how emotional clarity affects depression through executive function deficits and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and provides insight into the specific mechanisms through which interventions targeting emotional clarity may have therapeutic effects on depression. Furthermore, this study discussed its limitations, explored therapeutic implications, and provided suggestions for future research.

본 연구는 우울을 비롯한 정신건강 문제와 관련하여 정서 마음챙김과 같은 정서인식명확성에 대한 개입이 우울증의 예방 및 치료, 재발 감소에 영향을 미친다는 선행연구들을 고려하여, 정서인식명확성이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 실행기능 결함과 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략의 순차적 매개효과를 검증하였다. 검증 결과, 정서인식명확성과 우울 간의 관계에서 실행기능 결함과 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략이 순차적으로 완전매개하였다. 구체적으로는, 실행기능 결함은 정서인식명확성과 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략의 관계에서 뿐만 아니라, 정서인식 명확성과 우울의 관계에서도 완전매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 부적응적 인지적 정서 조절전략은 정서인식명확성과 우울의 관계에서 부분매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연 구 결과를 통하여, 정서인식명확성이 우울의 위험요인인 실행기능 결함과 부적응적 인지적 정서조절전략을 순차적으로 매개하여 우울에 영향을 미침을 확인하였으며, 이를 통해 정서인 식명확성을 증진시키는 개입이 우울에 대한 치료적 효과를 보이는 메커니즘을 제시하고 검증 하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 여겨진다. 추가로 본 연구의 한계점, 치료적 방안을 모색하고 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.
