This research investigates the mediating effect of absorptive capacity on the relationship between SME employees' entrepreneurial spirit (innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking) and technological innovation capabilities, focusing on regional differences between the Seoul metropolitan area and non-metropolitan areas in South Korea. A survey of 732 employees across three key SME sectors (manufacturing, information and communication, and professional, scientific, and technical services) was analyzed using exploratory structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings reveal that while only risk-taking directly impacts technological innovation capabilities, all components of entrepreneurial spirit positively influence absorptive capacity. Innovativeness and proactiveness fully mediate technological innovation through absorptive capacity regardless of region, whereas the mediating effect of risk-taking varies regionally. This research highlights the role of absorptive capacity in enhancing technological innovation, suggesting that companies should foster this capacity to better leverage individual innovativeness and proactiveness.In addition, it is meaningful in that it identified the relative importance between target latent variables and latent variables and suggested key areas of improvement and areas for strengthening superiority to corporate managers from a management perspective.

본 연구는 중소기업 종사자의 기업가정신(혁신성, 진취성, 위험감수성)이 기술혁신역량에 미치는 영향에 있어서 흡수역량의 매개효과를 검 증하기 위해 진행하였다. 수도권과 비수도권의 기업가정신 격차도 나타나는 점을 고려해 중소기업 종사자의 기업가정신에서도 지역적인 차이 가 있는지 비교하였다. 표본은 대표적인 대한민국 중소기업 3개의 산업군(제조, 정보통신, 전문·과학 및 기술 서비스) 종사자 732명을 대상으 로 하였으며 실증에는 탐색적 구조방정식 모형을 활용하였다. 실증 결과, 기업가정신 중 위험감수성만이 직접적으로 기술 혁신역량에 통계 적으로 유의한 정의 영향을 미쳤다. 다만, 흡수역량에는 모든 기업가정신 구성요소들이 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 나타났고, 혁신성과 진 취성의 경우 지역에 상관없이 흡수역량을 매개로 기술혁신역량에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 완전 매개효과가 나타났다. 위험감수성의 경우 기 술 혁신역량의 제고에 있어서 지역별로 흡수역량의 매개효과의 차이가 있었다. 하지만 결론적으로 기업이 개인의 혁신·진취성을 기반으로 기술혁신역량을 높이는 방안은 유효한 것으로 나타났으며, 이에 흡수역량의 중요성과 이를 제고하는 방안을 제시하였다. 또한, 목표 외생변 수와 잠재 원인 변수 간 상대적인 중요도를 파악하고 기업의 관리자에게 경영관점에서 중점개선 영역과 우위강화 영역을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
