This study was conducted to examine the perceptions and experiences of male adolescents regarding feminism phenomenon. To this end, qualitative interviews were conducted with 15 male adolescents from the third year of middle school to the second year of high school residing in various regions including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Sejong, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeonbuk. The results of the study confirmed that, first, the places where male adolescents internalize feminist perceptions and accumulate experiences are represented by schools, peer groups, and online spaces. Second, the common perceptions that male adolescents internalize are the logic of possibility that is applied differently depending on practicality, the origin-degeneration theory of feminism, and the partisanship of related groups. Third, by synthesizing the perceptions and experiences of male adolescents, this study derived the threat to the enhancement of citizenship and raised the weakening of educational institutions as problematic phenomena that should be noted from an educational perspective. The results of this study suggest that citizenship education in the form of rights education needs to function properly in the development process of male adolescents’ perceptions and experience surrounding feminism, and more specifically, it shows that it needs to be accompanied by an opportunity for deliberation.

본 연구는 10대 남자 청소년의 페미니즘 현상에 관한 인식과 경험을 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기, 세종, 경북, 경남, 전북 등 다양한 지역에 거주하는 중학교 3학년부터 고등 학교 2학년까지의 남학생 15명을 대상으로 질적 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 10대 남자 청소년이 페미니즘 관련 인식을 내면화하고 경험을 축적하는 장은 학교, 또래 집단, 온라인 공간으 로 대표된다는 점을 확인하였다. 둘째, 10대 남자 청소년이 공통적으로 내면화하고 있는 인식관으 로서 “실리에 따라 다르게 적용하는 가능성의 논리”, “페미니즘의 태초-변질설”, “관계된 집단에 대한 진영화”를 발견하였다. 셋째, 이러한 10대 남자 청소년의 페미니즘 인식과 경험을 종합함으 로써 본 연구는 교육적 차원에서 주목해야 할 문제적 현상으로 교육기관의 무력화와 시민성 발달 에의 위협을 도출하였다. 본 연구 결과는 페미니즘 현상을 둘러싼 10대 남자 청소년의 인식과 경 험의 발달 과정에서 권리교육 차원의 시민교육이 제 기능을 발휘할 필요가 있음을 시사하며, 보다 구체적으로는 숙의의 기회를 제공하는 교육이 수행될 필요가 있음을 보여준다.
