After the North-Soviet Cultural Exchange Agreement was signed in 1949, as part of the literary exchange between North Korea and the Soviet Union, Jo Ki-cheon’s poetry collection Baekdu Mountain and Tae Jang-chun’s play collection South of the Three Eighth Parallel were first introduced to the Soviet Union in 1950. This is significant in that it is the first publication of modern Korean literature in the Soviet Union and the official introduction of Korean literature to the Russian region, which had been cut off since the Tsarist Russian period. The 1950s was the time when the most Korean literature was translated and published in Russian-speaking countries during the Soviet era. Lee Ki-young, Jo Gi-cheon, and Han Seol-ya were the writers most introduced during this period. The intensive introduction of Soviet-affiliated Goryeo and two North Korean literary figures to the Soviet Union serves as an act of literary friendship and a record of how much cultural influence North Korea received from the Soviet Union.

북소문화 교류 협정이 1949년 체결된 후, 북한과 소련 문학 교류의 일환으로 조기천 시집 『백두산』과 태장춘 희곡집 『삼팔선 이남에서』가 1950년에 가장 먼 저 소련에 소개되었다. 이는 한국 현대문학 소련 지역 첫 출판이라는 점과 제정 러시아 시기 이후 단절되었던 러시아지역에의 한국문학 공식 소개라는 의의를 지닌다. 1950년대는 소련 시기에 한국문학이 가장 많이 러시아어권에 번역•출 판된 시기였다. 이기영, 한설야, 조기천은 이 시기에 가장 많이 소개된 문인이 었다. 소련파 고려인과 두 북한 문단의 거목이 소련에 집중적으로 소개된 데에는 문학을 매개로 한 조소 친선이라는 행위와 북한이 소련에 얼마나 많은 문화 적 영향을 받았는가를 보여주는 기록으로 기능하기도 한다.
