Mathematics education for social justice can make students aware of the problems in the society in which they live from a new perspective and enhance their understanding of social justice. Through mathematical modeling classes on a social justice issue, researchers aimed to have students approach real-life problems in a way that is connected to the real world, rather than simply solving them mathematically, and to explore pedagogical implications for teachers. As a result, individual differences were observed, but students showed their own value judgments based on social justice and the use of mathematical concepts and knowledge in recognizing social justice through mathematics, seeking problem-solving methods, and taking action to solve social justice issues. Mathematical communication was observed in the process of group problem-solving, and it was confirmed that this process was meaningful for the students through the sharing of results. Furthermore, a positive attitude towards mathematics was formed in this process. Based on these findings, pedagogical implications for mathematical modeling for social justice were explored.

사회정의를 위한 수학교육은 학생들이 사회의 다양한 문제를 새로운 시각에서 인 식하고, 사회정의와 수학에 대한 이해를 증진할 수 있게 한다. 이 교육은 학생들이 실생활 문제를 단순히 수학적으로 해결하는 것을 넘어 현실 세계와 연결된 방식으 로 접근하도록 유도할 수 있다. 학생들은 수학적 모델링 과제를 해결하는 과정에서 사회정의에 대한 인식을 높이고, 문제 해결 방법을 모색하며 실천함으로써 자신의 가치관과 수학적 지식을 효과적으로 활용하였다. 모둠 활동을 통해 이루어진 수학 적 의사소통 및 결과 공유는 중요한 역할을 하였으며 학생들의 수학에 대한 긍정 적인 태도 형성에 기여하였다. 수학적 모델링 활동의 과정 및 결과를 바탕으로, 사 회정의를 위한 수학적 모델링에 대한 교수학적 시사점을 탐색하였다.
