Historical testimonies about the period of national death in the early 20th century can be found in various sources (historical materials) currently conveyed. In addition to Park Eun-sik's HanKookTongSa(韓國痛史), Hwang Hyun's MaeCheonYaRok(梅泉野錄), Song Sang-do's KiRyoSuPil(騎驢隨筆), a nd J o Hee-je's YeomJaeYaRok(念齋野錄) are records of major domestic and international events and people that occurred during the time, and are major sources discussed without omission when examining the historical situation at the time. Daehanmanguksa Yeoljeon written by Roh Sang-ik at his place of exile, has a certain difference from previous stories in terms of biographies of people at various levels who were active in the era of national networks. Daehanmanguksa Yeoljeon records the actions of various people facing the situation in the ruined country by referring to the characters included in the Korean News Agency, the contents of the author's own observations, and records such as newspapers. Daehanmanguksa Yeoljeon is confirmed as an unfinished manuscript when examining the form and contents of the book. However, considering the nature of being a collection of biographies of people who were active at the time of the Great Britain, it is one of the important materials that cannot be missed in current research history. If you look at the records of the contestants included in Daehanmanguksa Yeoljeon, it is confirmed that there are cases where they do not match the actual actions of those characters. It is presumed that the author's writing activities were influenced by material limitations at the time of writing, the uneasy living environment in exile, and the urgent social situation under Japanese rule. If this case is considered, it will be possible to read the correct feed after examining objective facts such as mutual comparison with other materials written at the same time and whether it is actually true.

20세기초 국망(國亡)의 시기에 대한 역사적 증언은 현재 전하는 여러 사료(史料)를 통해 확인할 수 있다. 박은식의 『한국통사(韓國痛史)』를 비롯하여 황현의 『매천야록(梅泉野錄)』, 정교의 『대한계년사(大韓季年史)』, 송상도의 『기려수필(騎驢隨筆)』, 조희제의 『염재야록(念齋 野錄)』은 당대 벌어진 주요한 국내외 사건과 인물에 대한 기록으로, 당시 역사적 상황을 살필 때 거론되는 주요한 사료들이다. 노상익이 망명지에서 저술한 『대한망국사열전』은 국망의 시대에 활동했던 다양한 층위의 인물에 대한 전기라는 측면에서, 앞의 사료들과 일정한 차별성을 지닌다. 『대한망국사열전』은 『한국통사』에 수록된 인물을 비롯하여 저자 자신이 견문한 내용과 신문 등의 기록물을 참고하 여 망국의 상황에 처한 여러 인물들의 행적을 기록한 것이다. 『대한망국사열전』은 저술의 형 태와 수록된 내용을 살펴볼 때 미완성 초고본의 저술로 확인된다. 그러나 망국의 시점에서 활 동한 인물들의 전기 모음집이라는 특성을 고려할 때, 당대 연구사에서 빼놓을 수 없는 중요한 사료 가운데 하나이다. 『대한망국사열전에 수록된 입전 인물들의 기록을 살펴보면, 해당 인물의 실제 행적과 일 치하지 않는 경우가 다수 확인된다. 이는 집필 당시의 자료적 한계, 망명지에서의 불안한 주거 환경, 일제 치하의 긴박한 사회적 상황 등이 저자의 저술 활동에 영향을 미쳤기 때문으로 짐작된다. 이러한 경우를 고려한다면, 동시대에 저술된 다른 사료들과의 상호 비교 및 실제 사실 여부 등의 객관적 사실을 검토한 다음에 올바른 사료 읽기가 가능할 것이다.
