With the complete revision of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the explanation for Serious Accidents Punishment Act, the importance of establishing a corporate accident prevention system is increasing. The government is emphasizing the establishment of a self-discipline prevention system, and to achieve this, it is important for companies to recognize the need to prevent occupational accidents. To this end, safety and health researchers focus on the negative effects of occupational accidents. This study empirically analyzed the impact of occupational accidents on labor productivity based on added value for listed manufacturing companies. For this purpose, panel data was constructed using 8 years of public disclosure data and occupational accident data from 1,009 companies, and regression analysis was conducted. In addition, a panel quantile regression model was applied to check the differential impact depending on productivity level. As a result of the analysis, the negative impact on labor productivity was confirmed as occupational accidents increase in the companies subject to analysis, and the estimation results showed that the effect was clearly evident in companies with relatively low productivity levels. The results of this study suggest that the negative impact of occupational accidents on a company's labor productivity is significant, and that voluntary efforts by companies to prevent accidents and design policies to encourage them are necessary.

산업안전보건법이 전면 개정되고 중대재해처벌법이 제정되면서 기업의 예방체계 확립의 중요성이 확대되고 있다. 특히 정부는 자기규율 예방체계 구축을 강조하고 있는데 이를 위해서는 무엇보다 기업이 산업재해 예방의 필요성을 인지하는 것이 중요하며, 이를 위해 안전보건 연 구자들은 산업재해가 기업에 미치는 부정적인 영향에 집중하고 있다. 본 연구는 상장되어 제조업에 포함되어 있는 기업을 대상으로 산업재해 가 부가가치에 기반한 노동생산성에 미치는 영향에 대해서 실증 분석하였다. 이를 위해 1,009개 기업의 8년간 공시자료와 산업재해자료를 활 용하여 패널자료를 구축 후 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 또한 생산성 수준에 따른 차별적인 영향에 대해서 확인하고자 패널 분위수회귀모형도 적 용하였다. 분석결과, 분석대상 기업에서 산업재해가 증가할수록 노동생산성이 감소하는 부정적인 영향에 대해 확인하였고, 상대적으로 생산 성 수준이 낮은 기업 군에서 그 효과가 뚜렷이 나타난다는 추정 결과를 도출하였다. 본 연구결과는 산업재해 발생이 기업의 노동생산성에 미치 는 부정적 영향이 상당히 크며, 재해 예방을 위한 기업의 자발적인 노력과 이에 유인하는 정책 설계가 필요함을 시사한다.
