This study observed rhythm-borrowing poems from [Haewoljib] to analyze the personal relationship of Yeoil Hwang. Then, this study categorized and selected Chinese poems for each type to examine his awareness of the reality and sentiments found in his works. Hwang lived in the 16th and 17th centuries, which was a complex period with varied aspects in the Joseon Dynasty. Hwang was a figure who went through this literary transition period and left 513 titles and about 800 poems. Hwang mainly had companionship with the famous figures of the time, and his literary competence received much recognition from the literary figures. The rhythm-borrowing poems from [Haewoljib] showed that Hwang had a relationship with literary figures, including Saeon Yang (楊士彦), Eungchung Hwang (黃應淸), Sungil Kim (金誠一), and Rip Choi (崔岦). This study also found that Hwang learned from Eungchung Hwang and Sungil Kim. In addition, this study examined the poem that Hwang exchanged with an envoy from the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Zhifan (朱之蕃), when he was designated as a writer. This study also reviewed the poems that famous literary figures of the time gave to Hwang and found out that Hwang was a literary figure with outstanding poetical composition skills. This study analyzed the Chinese poems of 513 titles from [Haewoljib] and analyzed the poetic sentiment by dividing into landscape sightseeing, patriotism and love for the people, self-discipline, and wisdom of life. This study analyzed each type to identify his love for scenic beauty, his patriotism and love for the people that he developed throughout the war, his academic ideal during youth, wisdom of life during old age, and inner sentiments found in his poems. This study escaped from the academic focus on his travel record, [Eunsarok(銀槎錄)], and attempted to examine the poetic world that could not be examined on the whole. This study holds significance for analyzing each poetic work for each type to explore his inner sentiment.

이 연구에서 『해월집』에 수록된 차운시를 통해 황여일의 인적 관계를 조망하고, 한시를 유형별로 분류⋅선별하여 분석함으로써 작품에 나타난 황여일의 현실 인식과 정서를 고찰하였다. 황여일이 살았던 16~17세기의 시단(詩壇)은 조선조에서 복잡하고 다양한 양상을 보이는 시기였고, 황여일은 이 문학적 과도기를 겪으며 513제(題) 800여 수(首)의 시를 남긴 인물이다. 황여일과 교유했던 인물들은 당대의 명사(名士)들이 많았고, 접점을 가진 문인들로부터 문학적 역량을 크게 인정받았다. 『해월집』의 차운시를 토대로 양사언(楊士彦)⋅황응청(黃應淸)⋅김성일(金誠一)⋅최립(崔岦) 등의 문인들과 교유(交遊)가 있음을 살피고, 황응청과 김성일로부터 황여일이 학문을 전습(傳習)했다는 사실을 파악하였다. 또한 명나라 사신 주지번(朱之蕃)을 응대할 때 황여일이 문장가로 선발되어 주지번과 주고받았던 시를 살피고, 당대에 명망 있는 문인들이 황여일에게 증여한 시를 검토하여 그가 작시(作詩)에 뛰어났던 문인임을 확인하였다. 『해월집』에 수록된 513제의 한시를 분류하여, 한시에 나타난 정취를 산수 유람, 우국(憂國)과 애민(愛民), 수양과 처세 등으로 나누어 분석하였다. 유형별 분석을 통해 황여일의 명승에 대한 애호를 비롯하여, 전란을 거친 상황에서 형성된 우국⋅애민의 정서, 젊은 시절의 학문적 이상과 노년의 처세 등 그의 한시에 나타난 내면 정서들을 파악하였다. 그동안 사행 기록물 『은사록(銀槎錄)』을 중심으로 진행된 연구 경향과 달리, 이 연구는 총체적으로 다루어지지 못했던 황여일의 시 세계를 두루 살피고자 한 시도로서, 그리고 각 작품을 유형별로 분석하여 내적 정서를 엿보고자 한 연구라는 점에서 의미가 있다.
