This study will argue that, despite the notable absence of the term "Kingdom of God" in the Gospel of John (mentioned only twice in John 3:3 and 3:5), its importance is not significantly different from the Synoptic Gospels, which mention the term 103 times. This will be demonstrated through an examination of the structure of the Gospel of John and the meaning embedded in the term "eternal life." Specifically, this study will explore how the term "kingdom" is used from the perspective of sovereignty, and how the term "king," frequently used in the Gospel of John, connects the concepts of kingdom and king, expanding the narrative of the Kingdom of God in John. By examining the prominent characteristics of the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of John, it will be shown that this kingdom is not only real but also universal, and its sovereignty extends to our present age. It will be argued that such preaching is a necessary alternative to overcoming a prosperity gospel and individualistic faith, serving as a foundational basis for building a kingdom of life expansion, as John intended, in an age where public ethics are deteriorating.

본 연구는 요한복음에 ‘하나님 나라’라는 용어가 현저하게 사용되지 않음에도(2번 언 급-요 3:3, 5) 그 중요성에 있어서 ‘하나님 나라’를 103회나 언급한 공관복음과 크게 다르지 않음을 요한복음의 구조와 ‘영생’이라는 용어에 담겨있는 의미를 연구를 통해 주장할 것이다. 특히 하나님 나라를 주장할 때 ‘주권’의 측면에서 나라가 사용되고 있음을 살펴보고, 요한복음에서 많 이 사용되는 ‘왕’이라는 용어를 통해 ‘나라’와 ‘왕’이 어떻게 연결되고 요한복음의 내러티브에서 하나님 나라를 펼쳐가는지 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 요한복음에서 두드러지는 하나님 나라의 특징 을 살펴봄으로 그 나라가 실재할 뿐 아니라 보편적인 나라이므로 그 나라의 주권이 오늘 우리들 의 시대에도 미치고 있음을 설교를 통해 드러내야 한다고 주장할 것이다. 이러한 설교야말로 기 복적이고 개인주의적인 신앙을 극복하는 대안이 될 수 있고 공적 윤리가 무너져 가는 시대에 필 요한 설교이자 요한이 원했던 생명이 확장되는 나라를 세워가는 기초가 될 수 있을 것이다.
