This study aims to analyze social discourse and perceptions regarding women's participation in military service in order to prepare for the shortage problem of military service resources due to rapid population decline in Korean society. Hence, text mining and social network analysis were performed by collecting 6,459 big data which appeared in media reports and portals in this regard over the past five years (2019-2023). As a result of the study, a keyword called women was derived as a core discourse of the military service system in Korean society, high relevance in political aspect, gender conflict aspect, and discourse on the issue of sexual violence in the military were found to be key characteristics, and based on this fact, I suggested policy implications such as improving social awareness to expand women’s participation in the military service and strengthening prevention of the sexual violence in the military.

본 연구는 한국 사회의 급격한 인구감소로 인한 병역자원 부족 문제에 대비하기 위해 여 성의 병역 참여에 관한 사회적 담론 및 인식을 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 최근 5년 (2019 ∼2023년)의 언론보도와 포털에 나타난 관련 6,459건의 빅데이터를 수집하여 텍스 트마이닝과 사회연결망 분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, ‘여성’ 키워드는 한국 사회에서 병역 제도의 핵심 담론으로 도출되었고, 정치적 측면의 높은 연관성과 성별 갈등 측면, 군내 성 폭력 문제에 관한 담론 등이 주요 특성으로 나타났으며 이를 바탕으로 여성의 병역 참여 확 대를 위한 사회적 인식 개선, 군내 성폭력 예방 강화 등의 정책적 시사점을 제언하였다.
