Human beings are social members who transmit direct and indirect messages to others by conscious or unconcious nonverbal behavior. However, of all the body language, the most frequently used is the hand language. Hand language is a symbolic sign system based on cultural basis.For this reason, hand language differs in its form and meaning depending on the culture’s comlicated cowcatcher. Therefore, hand language has a characteristic of not being interpreted in a single meaning.Depending on the location, different hand gestures are only effective resources when one has cultural knowledge. Therefore, without enough understanding of numerous different cultures, it is not possible to accurately understand a non-speaking communication and never can the communication be achieved.Thereupon, this experiment analyzes the hand-language, of Korea and Asia. By doing so, it tests the Asia’s knowledge of Korea’s hand gestures.The summation of experiment’s results are as follows.A intellectual experiment was executed on Thai, Philippines, and Indonesians immigration workers on their knowledge of Korea’s hand language. As a result, those tested showed 93% of marginalization and only 7% of standardization of knowledge. Also, Thai, the multitude hand language country showed the least cognition rate of Korea’s hand language, which shows that multitude hand language is a barrier factor in non-speaking communication.Generally, the misunderstood Korea’s hand languages were interpreted by their own cultural backgrounds. This shows interpretation of message and connection between cultures. In the other hand, there were no differences incognition interpretation in personal or national hand language.Nonverbal communication, “Hand Language,” between different cultures serves as a barrier factor in communicating with one another. Furthermore, hand language’s knowledge is based on cultural backgrounds.Therefore, this experiment expects to offer the necessity to maximize the strategy development in nonverbal communication and be the basis materials of behavior science. In addition, this experiment proves the correlation between non-speaking behavior system’s accurate understanding of culture and knowledge system. It proves the necessity to search an understanding and promotion of other culture’s human behavior similarities.

비언어 체계인 신체언어 중 사용 빈도가 가장 높은 손짓언어는 행위규범에 의한 문화적 토양을 바탕으로 생성되는 상징적 기호체계인 까닭에 손짓언어의 형태와 의미는 문화에 따라 각기 다른 방식의 복잡한 구조망으로 교차되어 있다. 따라서 손짓언어의 형태와 의미는 한 가지로 해석되지 않는 특징을 갖는다.지역에 따라 각기 다른 손짓기호의 차이는 문화적 지식을 바탕으로 메시지가 정확히 인지된 상태의 상대방에 도달되어 이해될 때에만 비로소 의사소통의 유효한 수단으로 반응되며 활용될 수 있다.이에 본 연구는 태국과 인도네시아, 필리핀 이주 노동자를 대상으로 아시아인들의 한국 손짓언어 인지능력을 파악하고자 하였다. 그 결과 인지능력 평가단계에 있어 조사대상자의 93%가 주변형으로 표준형은 7%에 불과하며 다중 손짓언어 비율이 높은 태국의 인지율이 가장 낮은 인지평가 수준을 나타냄으로서 다중 손짓언어가 문화 간 비언어 커뮤니케이션의 장애요인이라는 사실이 밝혀졌다.
