This study was conducted to explore and understand how the admission preparation experience of adolescents majoring in art at an arts middle school affects their emotional intelligence capabilities. To this end, two students enrolled in the first and second grades of an art middle school were selected as participants and informed of the study and its purpose. Interviews were conducted between June 4 and 11, 2023, and the data were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. First, the emotional intelligence competencies experienced by teenagers majoring in art at an arts middle school during their preparation for admission include ‘the free and innocent childhood,’ ‘discovering another self through the mirrors of people around me,’ ‘a quiet island,’ and ‘quiet comfort that fills my side.’ ', 'The ensemble of the sea that endures and embraces', 'Whispering to me, “Good job, let's try a little more"', 'The value that passion and consistency give me back', 'Persevering through the cocooning time for tomorrow when I will become a butterfly. ' appeared. Second, the meaning of emotional intelligence competency in the entrance preparation experience of teenagers majoring in art at an arts middle school was derived as ‘growth of a span’ and ‘filling myself with the time I hold on to.’ From the above findings, it can be concluded that emotional intelligence competencies have great significance for positive challenges and growth in a negative reality that can be negative and discouraging for adolescents.

본 연구는 예술중학교 미술전공 청소년의 입학준비 경험이 정서지능 역량에 어떻게 발 휘되는지를 탐색하고 이해하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위해 두 명의 예술중학교 1. 2학 년에 재학중인 학생 두 명을 연구참여자를 선정하여 연구의 취지와 연구 목적을 알렸다. 연구참여자를 대상으로 2023년 6월 4일에서 11일까지 인터뷰를 실시하고 그 내용을 분석 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예술중학교 미술전공 청소년의 입학준비 경험 정 서지능 역량은 자유롭고 천진난만했던 유년의 뜨락, 주변 사람의 거울로 또 다른 나를 발 견함, 적막한 섬, 내 곁을 메우는 조용한 위로, 견뎌주고 품어주는 바다의 앙상블, 나에게 속삭임 ‘수고했어, 조금만 더 해보자’, 열심과 꾸준함이 내게 돌려주는 가치, 나비가 될 내 일을 위해 고치의 시간을 인내함으로 나타났다. 둘째, 예술중학교 미술전공 청소년의 입 학준비 경험 정서지능 역량 의미는 한 뼘의 성장, 움켜쥔 시간으로 나를 채움으로 도출되 었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통해 청소년들에게 부정적이고 낙담할 수 있는 부정적 현실에 서 긍정적 도전과 성장에 정서지능 역량이 커다란 의미가 된다는 것을 결론으로 얻을 수 있다.
