Visual models in mathematics textbooks play a significant role as tools for teaching and learning. Regarding the double scale models presented for the first time in the division of fractions unit of the textbooks developed under the national curriculum in 2015, this study analyzed in detail the form of the double scale models presented in the division of fractions unit of 10 government-approved textbooks. This study then explored the elements and activities associated with the models to help students understand the underlying principles of computation. The results of this study showed that the types of double scale models were area-number line model, tape-number line model, double number line, number line-tape model, and bar model. Regarding elements, the models were often presented with detailed scales, formulas and arrows to show any change in quantity, and units of quantity, while there were few explanations or guides to explain their meaning. Regarding activities, most textbooks with models presented students with activities for exploring the components(numbers) of the model and completing the computational process, but fewer activities were presented for reasoning or explaining principles of computation using models. Based on these findings, we discuss the implications of presenting and using double scale models in mathematics textbooks

수학 교과서에 제시되는 시각적 모델은 교수·학습을 위한 도구로 중요한 역할을 한다. 2015 국정 교과서의 분수의 나눗셈 단원에 제시된 이중 척도 모델과 관련하 여, 본 연구에서는 10종의 2015 검정 교과서의 분수의 나눗셈 단원에 제시된 이중 척도 모델의 형태뿐만 아니라 계산 원리 이해를 위해 모델에 제시된 요소 및 활동 을 상세히 분석하였다. 분석 결과 이중 척도 모델의 형태는 영역-수직선 모델, 띠- 수직선 모델, 이중수직선, 수직선-띠 모델, 막대모델이 있었다. 또한 모델에 제시된 요소를 분석한 결과, 상세 눈금, 양의 변화를 나타내는 수식 및 화살표, 모델이 나 타내는 양의 단위 등은 대부분 제시한 반면에, 모델의 의미를 나타내는 설명이나 안내는 적었다. 모델과 관련하여 계산 원리 이해를 위해 제시된 활동을 분석한 결 과, 모델을 활용한 대부분의 교과서에서 모델의 구성요소(수) 탐색하기, 계산 과정 완성하기 활동을 제시한 반면에, 모델을 활용해 계산 원리를 추론하거나 설명하는 활동은 적게 제시되었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 이중 척도 모델을 교과 서에 제시하고 활용하는 것과 관련된 시사점을 논의하였다.
