The purpose of this paper is to explore the interconnected processes of care depicted in the movie 《House of Cards》 by following the narratives of its characters and to reflect on the significance of holistic care. This movie explores the doctor’s and the patient’s family’s approaches to illness and care from both biomedical and existential perspectives, with a focus on the patient. The doctor’s narrative depicts disease approach and cure from a biomedical perspective, while the patient’s family’s narrative depicts illness and care from an existential perspective. The perspective on disease varies depending on the presence or absence of medical knowledge and recognition of human individuality. Medical professionals view the disease as something that must be eliminated, but patients and their families understand the disease as part of the context of their lives. The movie leads this point into a conflict of interest about the disease, and solves the problem of the patient’s pain beyond medical diagnosis through human-centered holistic care. This is described as a process in which the doctor and the patient’s family, starting from different perspectives on the disease, acknowledge the patient’s individuality, understand the patient’s narrative, and experience reflection and joint healing in an interconnected relationship. The interconnected care suggested by this moive provides an opportunity to rethink the role and position of care in current medical practice.

이 글의 목적은 영화 《카드로 만든 집》의 등장인물의 서사를 따라가며 상호연결로 이루어지는 돌봄의 과정을 살펴봄으로써 전인적 돌봄의 의미를 되새겨 보는 것이다. 영화는 환자를 중심으로 의사와 환자의 가족이 질병과 돌봄에 접근하는 방식을 생의학 적 관점과 실존적 관점에서 전개한다. 의사의 서사는 생의학적 관점에서의 질병 접근 과 치료를 그리고, 환자 가족의 서사는 실존적 관점에서 질병과 돌봄을 그린다. 질병을 바라보는 관점은 의학 지식의 유무와 인간 개별성의 인정 여부에 따라 달라진다. 의료 인은 질병을 제거되어야 할 것으로 여기지만, 환자와 환자 가족은 질병을 삶의 맥락으 로 이해한다. 영화는 이 지점을 질병에 대한 이해의 충돌로 이끌며, 의학적 진단 너머 에 있는 환자의 고통에 대한 문제를 인간 중심의 전인적 돌봄으로 풀어간다. 이것은 서 로 다른 질병 관점에서 출발한 의사와 환자 가족이 환자의 개별성을 인정하고, 환자의 서사를 이해하며, 상호 연결된 관계 속에서 성찰과 동반 치유를 경험하는 과정으로 묘 사된다. 이 영화가 시사하는 돌봄의 상호성은 현 의료에서 돌봄의 역할과 위치에 대해 다시 생각하는 계기를 제공한다.
