- The changes in social status are one of the factors that influence human ethical judgment. When rapid societal changes occur due to the outbreak of a pandemic, alterations in individual social status are expected, which can lead to changes in ethical judgment. COVID-19, being a pandemic capable of affecting individuals' social status and ethical judgment, is the focus of this study, despite the scarcity of related research. To investigate this, 866 Koreans aged from their teens to their fifties participated. They were categorized into groups based on their perception of social status post-COVID-19: those who perceived a decrease, no change, and an increase in their social status. The results showed that individuals who perceived a decrease in their social status post-COVID-19 tended to be more lenient in accepting their own ethical issues, but not those of others. Moreover, these individuals tended to believe that there were justifiable circumstances for their ethical issues, but not for others. This study is significant as it confirms that the perception of changes in social status post-COVID-19 is a mechanism underlying the increase in unethical behaviors observed during the pandemic.

- 사회적 지위의 변화는 인간의 윤리적 판단에 영향을 미치는 요소 중 하나이다. 전염병 발생으로 인한 사 회의 급격한 변화가 발생하면, 개인의 사회적 지위에도 변화가 생기기 마련이고, 이에 따라 윤리적 판단도 달라질 수 있다. 코로나-19도 개인의 사회적 지위와 윤리적 판단에 변화를 주기에 충분한 전염병이지만, 관련된 연구가 드물어 본 연구에서 탐구해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 10대부터 50대까지의 한국인 866명이 참여하였고, 이들은 코로 나-19 이후 사회적 지위가 낮아졌다고 지각하는 집단, 변화가 없다고 지각하는 집단, 높아졌다고 지각하는 집단으 로 구분했다. 결과적으로 코로나-19 이후 사회적 지위가 낮아졌다고 지각할수록 나의 윤리적 문제는 관대하게 수 용하는 반면, 타인의 윤리적 문제는 수용하지 않는 경향을 보였다. 또한 코로나-19 이후 사회적 지위가 낮아졌다 고 지각할수록 나의 윤리적 문제에는 부득이한 사정이 있다고 지각하였지만, 타인은 그렇지 않을 것이라고 지각하 는 경향을 관찰하였다. 본 연구 코로나-19 이후 증가하고 있는 비윤리적 행동의 근본에 지각된 사회적 지위 변화 라는 기제가 존재함을 확인했다는 측면에서 중요하다.

INCA was registered as an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The main purpose of the organization is to improve our society by achieving the highest capability possible in next generation convergence technology.
