The Possibility of Writing Education through Content Creation

- This paper proposes an example of a story writing class, to show that creative writing can be another good choice for university writing and liberal arts education.
is a liberal arts course of ‘A’ university aimed at strengthening writing skills and providing an experience to write stories for media content creation. has several advantages; first, it deals with ‘media content’, which is a major cultural activity of college students. This means that students can easily open their minds in class and freely imagine and be creative through this course. In addition, creating stories arouses students’ interest in writing and improves their writing skills while accumulating writing experience. Second, students develop critical thinking and self-expression skills through group discussions and media reviews. All activities to foster communication and writing skills in college writing―writing, correction, discussion, presentation, group activities, colleague feedback, etc.―could be applied to creative writing equally. It means, story creation classes can be another solution for writing education in universities. Third, students collaborate and fuse their various majors/expertise during team projects. They used web platforms to communicate at any time, create stories together, and design digital media content. Furthermore, students used AI technology and this means cooperation of human and post-human(AI). Therefore, in , we can see the possibility of realizing ideal liberal arts education which is creative and integrated. In conclusion, if creative activities can be carried out in liberal arts writing classes in connection with cultural content, much more students will be able to participate in creativity education. Above all, reflects the realistic needs and interests of students to create “content,” so it is a liberal arts course suitable for expanding the demand for writing education and developing digital literacy and humanities competencies.

- 본고는 A대학교의 <콘텐츠 창작 글쓰기> 수업 사례를 소개하면서 콘텐츠 스토리 창작 교육이 대학 글쓰기가 직면한 과제들을 해결할 수 있는 하나의 시도가 될 수 있다는 점을 밝히고, 스토리 창작 중심의 글쓰기 수업 방안을 제시하고자 한다. <콘텐츠 창작 글쓰기> 수업에서는 20대 대학생의 주된 문화 활동인 ‘콘텐츠’를 다루면서 학생들이 마음을 열고 자유롭게 창의성을 발휘할 수 있는 장을 마련하였다. 창작활동은 글쓰기에 대한 흥미를 높일 뿐 아니라 쓰기 경험을 축적하여 작문 능력을 향상시키는 역할을 할 수 있다. 글쓰기 수업 중 이루어지는 합평 및 미디어 작품 비평 등의 활동을 통해서는 비판적 사고와 자기표현 능력을 기를 수 있으며 팀별 합동 창작을 통해서는 다양한 배경을 가진 학생들의 전공/전문 지식의 융합과 협력이 학습자 중심·자기주도적으로 이루어질 수 있다. 학생들은 웹 플랫폼을 적극 활용하여 언제든지 의사소통과 의견교환을 이어나가고, 디지털 기술을 매개로 하여 작품을 완성하였으며, 콘텐츠 기획 과정에서 지금의 화두인 AI기술을 적극적으로 이용한 사례도 있었다. 이로써 학생들의 다양한 재능과 전공지식, 인간의 창의성과 인공지능의 기술이 다 같이 융합하는 창조적인 활동이 가능한 교육을 글쓰기 강좌에서 실현할 수 있다는 의의를 발견하였다. 창작활동을 문화 콘텐츠와 연계해 교양 글쓰기 수업에서 수행할 수 있도록 한다면 훨씬 많은 학생들을 창의성 교육에 참여시킬 수 있을 것이다. 무엇보다도 <콘텐츠 창작 글쓰기>는 ‘콘텐츠’ 창작이라는 학습자의 현실적 요구와 흥미를 반영하고 있어서, 글쓰기 교육의 수요를 확장하고 정보기술 시대에 새삼 강조되는 디지털 리터러시와 인문학 역량을 기르기에 적합한 교양 교과목이라고 할 수 있다.

- 한국문예창작학회(The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing)는 한국 문학의 새 지평을 열기 위해 문예창작 이론과 문예교육 이론을 연구 계발하여 문 예창작의 새로운 방향을 제시하고자 조직한 학술단체입니다. 전국 대학과 대학원 문예창작 관련학과의 전·현직 전임교수·겸임(초빙)교수· 강 사·대학원 재학 이상자 및 문예창작인들이 회원으로 활동하고 있습니다. 학회의 목적에 적극적으로 동의하는 문학 관련 단체나 문학창작 동호인도 준회원으로 참 여하고 있습니다. 연 2회 학회지를 발간해 학문적 기반을 닦고 있으며, 정기적으로 학술 세미나 와 해외 문학 심포지엄 등 학술 발표회를 개최하여 학문적 교류와 토론의 장을 넓히고 있습니다. 한편으로, 문예창작 캠프·문학기행 등의 창작교육 활동과 창작 학습 행사를 수 시로 진행하면서, 창작·창작이론·창작교육에 관한 활동의 범위를 넓히고 있습니다. 별도로, 문예창작 교육을 받은 문예창작학도들의 진로 개발을 위해 '문예교육지도 교사 자격 시험'도 운영하고 있습니다. The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing is a pure academic association for the literary cretive writing, and was organized on November 11, 2001 for the purpose of presenting the new direction of literary creative writing by studying all the methods to activate and develop the theories of literary creative writing and its education. Our society is composed of professors or ex-professors, some invited professor, lecturers, graduate students of the dept. of literary creative writing as regular members, and the persons interested in our program as associative members. Our society holds an annual academic meeting-- literary symposium, literary creative writing seminar-- and publishes the journal of our society and our members' anthology of literary works. Added to these, our society has already started a new project to open the way for our literary juniors by providing them with a certificate as a leader and holding a forum for literary creative writing.
