This study aims to explore the components of dramatic ballet based on literary works, focusing on expressing the narrative of literature through the sensory perception of dancers. This research is conducted based on Practice Based Research, analyzing both the entire creative process and the performance of the ballet "Les Misérables." The harmony of dance script, choreography, and music and its impact on both the work and the dancers were analyzed using somatic data. This integration was introduced into the production process to foster the development of dramatic ballet. As a choreographer, I applied practice-based research to dramatic ballet and explored new creative methods. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, in the process of implicitly expressing the vast narrative of the original literary work, we differentiated it into a one-act play through adaptation, restructuring and abbreviation of time, scene reduction, and focus. Secondly, the music used in the work was examined for its suitability by exploring the musical world of Robert Schumann, who has various music genres, for character psychological portrayal, and applying music editing techniques. Thirdly, observing phenomena that occur when choreographers create movement autonomously in ballet choreography types, we identified the need for changes in choreographic methods to suit scenes and dramas. Additionally, as a choreographer, I aim to challenge tradition and seek new creative processes and choreographic methods suitable for the modern era, recognizing the importance of time management and equal relationships between choreographers and dancers. This study aims to create works by harmonizing literature, choreography, and music and to find ways to express the narrative of literature through the sensory perception of dancers. We hope to connect practice-based research and dramatic ballet, where dancers acquire the narrative of literature and express it through the unique sensory movements of their bodies. We hope this study serves as a reference for ballet choreographers who integrate practice-based research and literature.

이 연구는 문학 작품을 기반으로 한 드라마틱 발레의 구성요소를 탐구하여 문학의 서사를 무용수 몸의 감각에 집중하여 표현하는 방법을 찾고자 함이다. 이 연구는 실기기반연구(Practice Based Research)를 기반으로 무용 작품 “레 미제라블”의 전 창작 과정과 공연된 작품의 분석을 시행하였다. 무용 대본, 안무, 음악의 조화가 작품과 무용수에게 미치는 영향을 소메틱 자료를 근거로 분석하였다. 이를 작품 제작에 도입하여 드라마틱 발레의 발전을 도모한다. 안무자로서 드라마틱 발레에 실기기반연구를 적용하고 새로운 창작 방법을 탐구한다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 원작 문학의 방대한 서사가 함축적으로 표현되는 과정에서 각색, 시간의 재구성 및 축약, 장면축소, 집중을 유도한 단막극으로 차별화하였다. 둘째, 작품에 사용한 음악은 인물 심리묘사를 위하여 다양한 음악 장르를 가진 로베르트 슈만의 음악 세계를 고찰하여, 사용의 적합성을 연구하고 음악 편집 기술을 적용하였다. 셋째, 발레 안무유형에서 안무자가 주도적으로 움직임을 만들 때 나타나는 현상을 관찰하고 장면과 드라마에 맞게 안무법의 변화가 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 안무자로서 새로운 도전을 하고 전통을 중요시하며 새로운 시대에 맞는 창작 과정과 안무 방법을 찾고자 한다. 안무자와 무용수 사이의 관계에서 시간의 관리과 평등한 관계가 중요함을 인식하였다. 이 연구는 문학, 안무, 음악을 조화롭게 사용하여 작품을 창작하고 문학의 서사를 무용수 몸의 감각에 집중하여 표현하는 방법을 찾고자 함이다. 무용수가 문학의 내러티브를 체득하고 고유수용감각의 움직임으로 몸의 의식을 통하여 표현되는 실기기반연구와 드라마틱 발레를 연결하길 바란다. 실기기반연구와 문학을 접목한 발레 안무가들에게 하나의 참고가 되길 바란다. 더불어 공연된 작품을 분석하고 그 제작 과정을 밝혀 장편 문학을 바탕으로 실기기반연구법을 적용한 창작 방법의 제시에 목적을 두었다. 더불어 이 논문이 움직임에 의식을 집중하는 것을 넘어서 스토리텔링을 담아내어 무용수와 관찰자 혹은 관객이 교감하는 방법을 찾아내는 연구가 되고자 한다.
