In the acquisition of a weapon system, the Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) plays a crucial role in shaping the acquisition strategy for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. It comprehensively analyzes the technical, cost, and economic performance of the target weapon system. In particular, technical performance analysis plays a pivotal role in shaping subsequent research direction, such as deriving acquisition alternatives, within the main procedures of AoA. However, while the technical complexity of the target weapon systems is gradually increasing, the research on analytical methodologies that can analyze technical performance more objectively and scientifically has not yet been thoroughly studied. This research is currently being conducted with limited manpower and time, mainly relying on the expertise of the individual researcher in charge of AoA. Therefore, to overcome this limitation, this study proposes to utilize bibliometric analysis in the process of technical performance analysis within the AoA process. Applying the proposed method to an ‘Unmanned Surface Vehicle’ as a target weapon system, the objective is to identify trends in defense science and technology research across countries, along with high-impact journals and researchers. This study is expected to provide a valuable tool, enhancing the technical comprehension of researchers participating in AoA and helping identify experts for weapon systems incorporating new technologies.

무기체계의 획득에 있어 선행연구 조사･분석은 대상 무기체계에 대한 기술성, 소요성, 경제성을 종합적으로 분석하여 방위사업청의 사업추진기본전략을 수립하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 핵심 과정이다. 특히, 기술성 분석은 선행연구의 주요 수행절차를 고려할 때 이후의 획득대안 도출 등의 연구방향을 결정하는 중요한 단계이다. 그러나 소요 무기체계의 기술적 복잡성은점차 증가하는 반면, 보다 객관적이고 과학적으로 기술성을 조사･분석 할 수 있는 분석 방법론에 대한 연구는 아직 활성화되지않은 관계로 현재는 제한된 인력과 기간 내에서 주로 선행연구 담당자의 개인역량에 의존하여 연구가 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이런 제한점을 극복하기 위하여 선행연구 조사･분석 과정 중 기술적 요소 분석 과정에서 계량서지분석을 활용하는 것을 제안한다. 제안된 방법을 통해 무인수상정을 선행연구 조사･분석 대상 체계로 설정하고 계량서지 분석을 수행한 결과, 국가별 국방과학기술연구 동향, 영향력이 높은 학술지 및 연구자 식별 등이 가능함에 따라 선행연구 참여 연구진의기술적 이해를 높이고, 신기술이 도입된 무기체계에 대한 전문가 식별에 도움이 되는 도구로써 활용될 것을 기대한다.
