This paper explores the potential contribution of private security to enhancing the safety of sex workers serving foreign clients in the cultural context of South Korea. The role of private security continues to increase in today's security governance with the growing need for safety-related services and advancing information and communications technology. Due to limited resources in the public sector and the illicit nature of their profession, sex workers may be exposed to various risk factors while performing their duties without proper protection from law enforcement. Therefore, they could benefit from the work of private security which could provide regular patrol services and connect them to various social service agencies if needed. More research should be conducted to examine the viability of this extension of private security services.

이 논문은 대한민국에서 외국 고객을 대상으로 성매매에 종사하는 여성들의 안전을 위한 민간 경비의 역할증대에 대해 논의하였다. 안전관련 서비스의 수요 증가와 정보통신기술의 발달로 인 해 민간경비 역할이 증가하고 있다. 인력 및 자원 부족 그리고 금지 업종 종사자로서, 성매매 종 사자들은 법의 테두리 밖에 위치하고 있다. 따라서 민간경비 역할증대를 통해 순찰과, 성매매 종 사자들이 필요시 상담 및 지원을 받을 수 있는 기관이나 단체 소개 등 다양한 역할 수행이 가능 할 수 있다. 앞으로 더 많은 연구를 통해 이러한 민간경비 서비스의 역할증대에 대한 논의가 지 속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
