This paper aims to examine the changing patterns of reproducing autism spectrum disorder by comparing and analyzing two dramas, The Good Doctor and Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The study compared and analyzed the two works from multiple angles focusing on their main characters with autism. The two dramas set autistic people with special talents, but there is a difference in the dramatic function. In The Good Doctor, a special talent shown by a character with autism plays a decisive role in solving a case and thus adds fun to the drama like a hero movie, but there is a problem with the objectification of people with autism. In Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a special talent is a reflective mechanism to remind people of the forgotten essence rather than making a direct contribution to the solution of a case. The perceptions of surrounding people about people with autism can be divided into the public and private aspects. In the public aspect, there is no prominent tendency to see the performance ability of people with autism negatively. In the private sector, however, negative perceptions of people with autism still linger and derive in various directions. While in The Good Doctor, the charity-like viewpoint of people with autism as those who need assistance is prominent, Extraordinary Attorney Woo highlights anxiety, complaints, and aggressive psychology toward people with autism. In these ways, the two dramas create disability discourses with common and different features. The Good Doctor builds the logic that all people are the same and should embrace the disabled. This is ideal and holds significance in that it reminds viewers of basic human rights and humanism. Extraordinary Attorney Woo creates the logic that all people are different and their differences should be respected. This is significant in that it has a reflection on the reality where dichotomous logic is reinforced. In short, the two dramas reflect the current perceptions of disabilities in South Korean society and, at the same time, propose a desirable future direction.

이 글은 드라마 <굿 닥터>와 <이상한 변호사 우영우>를 비교 분석하여 자폐 스펙트럼 장애 재현의 변화 양상을 살핀 논문이다. 주인공인 자폐인을 중심으로 하여 두 작품을 다각적으로 비교 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 자폐인은 특별한 능력이 있는 것으로 설정되는데, 그 극적 기능에는 차 이가 있다. <굿 닥터>에서의 특별한 능력은 사건 해결에 결정적인 역할을 하기때문에 히어로물과 같은 재미를 주지만 자폐인을 대상화한다는 문제가 발견된 다. 반면 <이상한 변호사 우영우>에서의 특별한 능력은 사건 해결에 직접적으 로 기여하는 대신 잊고 있던 본질을 상기시키는 성찰적 기제로 존재한다. 다음으로 자폐인에 대한 주변 인물들의 인식은 공적 측면과 사적 측면으로 구분된다. 공적 측면에서는 자폐인의 업무 수행 능력을 부정적으로 바라보는 경 향이 크게 드러나지 않지만, 사적 측면에서는 자폐인에 대한 부정적 인식이 여 전하고 그것이 다양한 방향으로 파생되고 있음이 확인된다. <굿 닥터>에서는 자폐인을 도움이 필요한 약자로 보는 시혜적 관점이, <이상한 변호사 우영우> 에서는 자폐인에 대한 불안, 불만, 공격 심리가 두드러진다. 이를 통해 두 작품은 공통점과 차이점이 있는 장애 담론을 각각 만들어낸다. <굿 닥터>에서는 모두가 똑같은 사람이기 때문에 장애인을 포용해야 한다는 논 리가 생성되는데, 이는 이상적이기는 하지만 기본적인 인권과 휴머니즘을 상기 한다는 점에서 의의가 있다. <이상한 변호사 우영우>에서는 사람은 모두 다르 기 때문에 각자의 차이가 존중되어야 한다는 논리가 생성되는데, 이는 이분법적 논리가 강화되는 현실을 성찰한다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 결론적으로 두 작품은 당대 한국사회의 장애 인식을 반영함과 동시에 나아가 야할 방향을 보여준 작품이라고 평가할 수 있다.
